9 Nights / 10 Days · Bodhgaya · Timings adjustable to your arrival

Day 1

Arrival in Bodhgaya — Mahabodhi Temple, Bodhi Tree & International Monastery Circuit

Arrive at Bodhgaya via Gaya Junction Railway Station (17 km) or Gaya Airport. Meet your dedicated pilgrimage guide and check in to hotel. After freshen-up, proceed to the UNESCO World Heritage Mahabodhi Temple Complex — built at the exact spot where Prince Siddhartha Gautama attained Enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree in 528 BCE after 49 nights of uninterrupted meditation. Circumambulate the sacred Bodhi Tree (Ficus religiosa) — a direct descendant of the original tree under which the Buddha sat, one of the most venerated living objects on earth. Touch the Vajrasana (Diamond Throne) — the precise stone slab of the Buddha's meditation seat. Visit the Animesh Lochan Chaitya, the Ratnachankrama (the jewelled promenade where the Buddha paced after Enlightenment), and the Ratanaghar Chaitya. Explore the extraordinary international Buddhist monastery circuit — Japanese Daijokyo Temple, Tibetan Tergar Monastery, Royal Thai Monastery, Bhutanese Temple, Vietnamese Monastery, and the Chinese Buddhist Temple — each representing centuries of living Buddhist tradition. Evening: seated meditation near the Bodhi Tree as monks from across the world chant sutras in the candlelit complex. Dinner and overnight in Bodhgaya.
Day 2

Rajgir & Nalanda — Vishwa Shanti Stupa, Venuvana, Griddhakuta & Ancient University Ruins

After breakfast, drive to Rajgir (approx. 80 km, 1.5 hrs) — the ancient capital of the Magadha empire and one of the most historically significant cities in Asia, where the Buddha spent several rainy-season retreats and where the First Buddhist Council was convened after his Parinirvana. Ride the ropeway to the Vishwa Shanti Stupa (World Peace Pagoda) atop Ratnagiri Hill — offering 360-degree panoramic views of the five sacred hills encircling the valley. Visit Venuvana Vihara — the bamboo grove gifted to the Buddha by King Bimbisara, the world's first Buddhist monastery. Climb Griddhakuta Hill (Vulture's Peak) — where the Buddha delivered the Prajnaparamita and Lotus Sutras and where Mahavira also preached. Take a healing dip in the Brahmakund hot springs — natural sulphurous thermal waters used by pilgrims since antiquity. Proceed to Nalanda (12 km) — the world's greatest residential university, founded 427 CE, which at its zenith housed 10,000 students and 2,000 professors from China, Korea, Japan, Tibet, Mongolia, and Sri Lanka. Explore the sprawling UNESCO-listed Nalanda Archaeological Ruins — 14 temples and 9 monasteries across 14 hectares — and the Nalanda Museum. Return to Bodhgaya for dinner and overnight.
Day 3

Gaya — Vishnupad Temple & Pind Daan → Drive to Varanasi — Kashi Vishwanath Evening Darshan

After breakfast, check out and drive to Gaya city (17 km from Bodhgaya). Visit the Vishnupad Temple on the banks of the Falgu River — the revered shrine built over the 40 cm footprint of Lord Vishnu embedded in solid basalt rock, rebuilt by Queen Ahilyabai Holkar in 1787. For devotees who wish to perform Pind Daan — the most sacred Shraddha ritual in Hinduism, believed to liberate ancestors from the cycle of rebirth and grant Moksha for seven generations — our guide will coordinate with a qualified Gaya Panda. Drive to Varanasi (approx. 250 km, 5 hrs). Arrive by evening. Check in to hotel. Proceed for darshan at the Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirlinga — one of the 12 sacred Jyotirlingas and the most revered Shiva shrine on earth. Overnight in Varanasi.
Day 4

Varanasi — Sunrise Boat Ride, Kashi Vishwanath Corridor & Grand Ganga Aarti

Pre-dawn: board a traditional wooden rowing boat on the Ganges for the legendary Varanasi sunrise — one of the most spiritually transcendent and visually breathtaking experiences on earth. Float past all 84 ghats as Kashi awakens: priests perform Surya Puja on the stone steps, sadhus sit in Samadhi, thousands of devotees chant and take holy dips, and the eternal fires of Manikarnika Ghat — burning without pause for 3,500 years — cast a golden glow on the sacred river. After breakfast, explore the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor (inaugurated 2021) — the magnificent redeveloped precinct surrounding the Jyotirlinga, with Annapurna Devi Temple, Avimukteshwar Mandir, and the vibrant Vishwanath Lane. Afternoon: Durga Kund Temple, Tulsi Manas Mandir (built at the spot where Tulsidas composed the Ramcharitmanas in 1574 CE), and Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple (founded by Tulsidas himself). Evening: the spectacular Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat — 7 head priests wielding 21-tier fire wands in a synchronized 45-minute ritual witnessed by thousands of devotees every night. Overnight in Varanasi.
Day 5

Sarnath — Buddha's First Sermon Site → Drive to Prayagraj — Triveni Sangam Boat Ride

After breakfast, drive to Sarnath (10 km, 20 mins) — the Isipatana Deer Park where the Enlightened Buddha delivered his first sermon (Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta) to his five disciples in 528 BCE, setting the Wheel of Dharma in motion and founding the Buddhist Sangha. Visit the Dhamek Stupa (5th century CE, marking the exact site of the First Sermon), Chaukhandi Stupa, Mulagandha Kuti Vihara (with golden life-murals of the Buddha), and the world-class Sarnath Archaeological Museum — home to the Lion Capital of Ashoka (250 BCE, India's national emblem) and the earliest known Dharmachakra. Return to Varanasi for check-out. Drive to Prayagraj (approx. 200 km, 3.5 hrs). Check in to hotel. Evening: sunset boat ride at the Triveni Sangam — the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna, and the invisible Saraswati — as the rivers merge in luminous golden light. Overnight in Prayagraj.
Day 6

Prayagraj — Sangam Snan, Akshaya Vat, Anand Bhawan → Drive to Chitrakoot — Ram Ghat Aarti

Wake before sunrise for the supreme pilgrimage act at Prayagraj — Sangam Snan at the Triveni Confluence. The Puranas declare a single dawn bath here equals the combined merit of all pilgrimages, all yagnas, and all acts of charity in the three worlds. After the snan, visit Allahabad Fort (1583 CE) for Akshaya Vat darshan — the immortal banyan tree described in the Mahabharata as indestructible through cosmic Pralaya. Visit Saraswati Koop, underground Patalpuri Temple, and Bade Hanuman Ji. Anand Bhawan (Nehru-Gandhi ancestral museum). Post-lunch check out and drive to Chitrakoot (approx. 130 km, 3 hrs) — Lord Ram's forest exile home. Check in to hotel. Evening: Ram Ghat on the serene Mandakini River — the ghat where Sita bathed daily during the exile — attend the gentle Mandakini Aarti as diyas float on the river in the forest dusk. Overnight in Chitrakoot.
Day 7

Chitrakoot — Kamadgiri Parikrama, Gupt Godavari, Hanuman Dhara → Drive to Ayodhya — Ram Mandir Darshan

Rise early for Mandakini Snan at Ram Ghat. After breakfast, complete the full Chitrakoot circuit: Kamadgiri Parikrama — the sacred 5 km barefoot circumambulation of Lord Ram's hill, believed to fulfill all sincere wishes; Gupt Godavari Caves — wade through the inner cave's ankle-deep underground Godavari waters where Ram held his forest royal court; Hanuman Dhara — the miraculous hilltop spring that appeared for Hanuman; Janaki Kund and Sati Anusuiya Ashram. Post-lunch check out and drive to Ayodhya (approx. 280 km, 5 hrs). Arrive by evening. Check in to hotel. Proceed for the most eagerly awaited darshan — Ram Mandir, the grand temple consecrated on 22 January 2024 at the birthplace of Lord Ram. Also visit Hanumangarhi. Evening: Saryu Aarti at Ram Ki Paidi as lamps drift down the holy Saryu. Overnight in Ayodhya.
Day 8

Ayodhya Darshan — Saryu Snan, Kanak Bhawan, Guptar Ghat → Chhapiya Swaminarayan Janmabhoomi → Overnight Gonda

Wake before sunrise for a Saryu Snan at Ram Ki Paidi — the most sacred bath in Ayodhya. After the snan, complete the full Ayodhya circuit: Kanak Bhawan (the golden palace gifted to Sita by Kaikeyi), Sita Ki Rasoi (the original royal kitchen), Nageshwarnath Temple (established by Luv and Kush), Treta Ke Thakur at Tulsi Ghat, Mani Parvat, and Guptar Ghat — where Lord Ram took Jal Samadhi at the conclusion of his earthly avatar. Post-lunch, drive to Chhapiya (approx. 100 km, 2 hrs from Ayodhya, in Gonda district) — the sacred birthplace of Bhagwan Swaminarayan, born as Ghanshyam Maharaj on Ram Navami day (3 April 1781) to Dharmadev and Bhaktimata. Visit the Swaminarayan Janmabhoomi temple complex — revered by millions of BAPS, Vadtal, and Swaminarayan faith followers worldwide. The main Janmabhoomi Mandir marks the exact birth house; also visit the childhood hindola (swing) of Ghanshyam Maharaj and the temple of Dharmadev and Bhaktimata. Attend the evening aarti. Dinner and overnight in Chhapiya / Gonda.
Day 9

Chhapiya Morning Aarti → Drive to Naimisharanya — Chakra Tirth, Lalita Devi Shakti Peetha & Gomati Snan

Rise early for the morning aarti and final darshan at the Swaminarayan Janmabhoomi complex — the birthplace of Bhagwan Swaminarayan who at age 11 renounced home and walked 12,000 km barefoot across India over 7 years, later founding one of the world's largest Vaishnava movements with 5 million followers and 1,100 temples globally. Collect prasad and blessings. After breakfast, check out and drive to Naimisharanya (approx. 120 km, 2.5 hrs from Chhapiya / Gonda) — the ancient sacred forest of Nimsar in Sitapur district, one of the holiest pilgrimage sites in the Puranas. The Skanda Purana declares Naimisharanya as the most sacred of all tirthas (pilgrimage sites). Here, at the dawn of Kali Yuga, 88,000 rishis gathered under Sage Shaunaka to hear the Puranas recited by Suta Goswami. Check in to guesthouse. Begin darshan at Chakra Tirth Kund — the sacred pond where Lord Brahma's Sudarshana Chakra landed, establishing the boundary of this divine forest. Visit the powerful Lalita Devi Temple — one of the 108 Shakti Peethas and one of the fiercest divine feminine shrines in India. Take a purifying dip in the holy Gomati River at the Chakra Tirth ghat. Evening puja at the main temple complex. Dinner and overnight at Naimisharanya.
Day 10

Naimisharanya Full Darshan — Vyasa Gaddi, Dadhichi Kund → Drive to Lucknow — Imambara & Departure

Rise early for Gomati Snan (holy bath in the Gomati River) at Chakra Tirth at sunrise — considered highly meritorious, equivalent to multiple pilgrimages. After breakfast, complete the Naimisharanya pilgrimage circuit: Vyasa Gaddi — the sacred seat where Maharishi Vedavyasa divided the four Vedas into branches and composed all 18 Puranas and the Mahabharata; Dadhichi Kund — the pond where the great sage Dadhichi performed tapasya and donated his bones to Indra to forge the Vajra weapon to slay Vritra (a supreme act of sacrifice celebrated across the Puranas); Soot Gaddi (the seat of Suta Goswami where the Puranas were recited); Hanuman Garhi Naimisharanya; and the Panch Pandav Temples. Check out and drive to Lucknow (approx. 85 km, 1.5 hrs). Arrive by early afternoon. Embark on a whirlwind tour of Lucknow's Nawabi heritage: the magnificent Bara Imambara (1784 CE) with its famous Bhulbhulaiya labyrinth (unsupported roof system with 489 identical doors — one of the great architectural mysteries of India) and Asfi Mosque; the ornate Chhota Imambara adorned with thousands of Belgian crystal chandeliers; the iconic Rumi Darwaza (1784 CE) — the 60-foot triumphal gate modeled on a Constantinople portal. Final Awadhi meal at a heritage restaurant — Dum Biryani, Galouti Kebab, and Meetha Paan. Transfer to Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport or Lucknow Junction for your onward journey. Tour concludes with the complete blessings of all eight sacred destinations.

Frequently Asked Questions — 9 Nights 10 Days Bodhgaya Varanasi Prayagraj Chitrakoot Ayodhya Chhapiya Naimisharanya Lucknow Tour Package

What makes this 9N10D tour unique compared to the other Bodhgaya packages?

This package is the only one in our lineup that includes both Chhapiya and Naimisharanya — two of the most spiritually significant yet rarely included pilgrimage sites in North India. Chhapiya is the birthplace of Bhagwan Swaminarayan (born on Ram Navami 1781), revered by over 5 million followers worldwide. Naimisharanya is the forest where 88,000 Vedic rishis composed the Puranas at the dawn of Kali Yuga — it holds Chakra Tirth and one of the 108 Shakti Peethas (Lalita Devi). Both sites are far removed from the typical pilgrimage circuit, making this tour the most spiritually complete of all our packages.

What is the accommodation like at Naimisharanya?

Naimisharanya (Nimsar) is a small, intimate pilgrimage town in Sitapur district. Accommodation is in well-maintained pilgrimage guesthouses — clean, simple, and comfortable, reflecting the austere and sacred nature of the place. It is not a hotel destination; the simplicity is part of the spiritual experience. For guests who prefer hotel-level amenities, we offer the option of staying at a hotel in Sitapur (25 km) or Lucknow (85 km) and making a day trip to Naimisharanya — please inform us at time of booking.

Why is Naimisharanya considered one of the holiest sites in Hinduism?

The Skanda Purana, Padma Purana, and Valmiki Ramayana all mention Naimisharanya as an extraordinarily sacred forest. It is the place where Lord Brahma's Sudarshana Chakra landed — establishing it as a protected divine zone. Here, the sage Suta Goswami recited all 18 Puranas to 88,000 rishis at the start of the Kali Yuga — making it the birthplace of the entire Puranic tradition. It is also home to Lalita Devi — one of the 108 Shakti Peethas — and the Dadhichi Kund where one of the greatest acts of sacrifice in Hindu mythology took place. Despite this stature, it remains uncrowded and profoundly authentic.

How is the route from Chhapiya to Naimisharanya logistically managed?

Chhapiya (Gonda district) to Naimisharanya (Sitapur district) is approximately 120 km — about 2.5 hours by road. On Day 9, after the morning Chhapiya aarti and darshan, we drive directly to Naimisharanya, arriving by early afternoon for a comprehensive full-afternoon and evening darshan (Chakra Tirth, Lalita Devi, Gomati Snan, evening puja). Day 10 morning covers the deeper circuit (Vyasa Gaddi, Dadhichi Kund, Soot Gaddi) before driving to Lucknow (85 km, 1.5 hrs) for Imambara sightseeing and airport departure.

Is the Lucknow visit just a transit stop or a proper sightseeing experience?

On Day 10 we arrive in Lucknow by mid-morning from Naimisharanya (85 km, 1.5 hrs). This gives 4–5 hours for Lucknow sightseeing before evening flights: the Bara Imambara (1.5–2 hrs with Bhulbhulaiya), Chhota Imambara (30 mins), Rumi Darwaza (30 mins), and time for a final Awadhi meal at one of Lucknow's legendary establishments. For early-evening or next-day flights, we can extend the Lucknow time. For guests flying out of Lucknow on Day 11, we offer an optional paid overnight in Lucknow with a full sightseeing day.

What is the best time of year for this grand 10-day circuit?

October to March is ideal across all eight destinations — pleasant temperatures (8–26°C), vibrant festivals, and comfortable pilgrimage conditions. Key festival highlights: Dev Deepawali at Varanasi (November), Deepotsav at Ayodhya (November), Magh Mela at Prayagraj (January–February), Ram Navami at Ayodhya, Chitrakoot, and Chhapiya (March–April — also Swaminarayan Jayanti), and Buddha Purnima at Bodhgaya (April–May). Naimisharanya is especially vibrant during Makar Sankranti (January) and Kartik Purnima (November). Avoid May–June due to extreme heat (42–46°C).
