Day-by-Day Itinerary — 3 Nights 4 Days Chitrakoot Prayagraj Varanasi Tour Package

3 Nights / 4 Days · Chitrakoot · Timings adjustable to your arrival

Day 1

Arrival in Chitrakoot — Kamadgiri Parikrama & Ram Ghat Aarti

Arrive at Chitrakoot by road or train (Chitrakoot Dham Karwi Railway Station, 8 km). Meet your pilgrimage guide and check in to hotel. After freshen-up, begin the most sacred act at Chitrakoot — the Kamadgiri Parikrama. This 5 km barefoot circumambulation of the Kamadgiri hill is believed to be the direct blessing of Lord Ram himself, who is said to reside in the hill in his subtle form. Devotees walk the paved forest path chanting Ram Naam, passing the Bharat Milap Mandir (where Bharat pleaded with Ram to return to Ayodhya), Matangi Devi Temple, and the main Kamadgiri shrine. The parikrama is said to grant Kamna Purti — the fulfillment of all sincere wishes. Evening: Ram Ghat on the Mandakini River — the same ghat where Mother Sita bathed every day during the 11.5 years of exile. Witness the serene evening Aarti as lamps float on the Mandakini and priests chant Vedic hymns in the gathering dusk. Dinner and overnight in Chitrakoot.
Day 2

Chitrakoot Deep Darshan — Gupt Godavari, Hanuman Dhara & Janaki Kund → Drive to Prayagraj

Wake early for a holy Mandakini Snan at Ram Ghat at sunrise — the sacred river is said to have been created by Brahma himself for the purification of pilgrims. After breakfast, explore the deeper shrines of Chitrakoot: Gupt Godavari Caves — enter the twin caves where Lord Ram held his royal durbar during exile; wade through the inner cave's ankle-deep water to experience the underground flow of the Godavari River — one of the most unique spiritual experiences in India. Janaki Kund — the peaceful ghat where Sita bathed, now marked by a small temple at the river's edge. Hanuman Dhara — climb 360 stone steps up the hill to reach this miraculous natural spring that appeared when Hanuman prayed for something to cool his burned body after returning from Lanka; the spring flows perpetually to this day, and the hilltop offers a sweeping panoramic view of Chitrakoot. Sati Anusuiya Ashram — where sage Atri's wife blessed Sita with divine gifts. Post-lunch check out and drive to Prayagraj (approx. 130 km, 3 hrs). Check in to hotel. Evening: serene sunset boat ride at the Triveni Sangam. Overnight in Prayagraj.
Day 3

Prayagraj — Sangam Snan, Akshaya Vat, Bade Hanuman Ji → Drive to Varanasi

Wake before sunrise for the most sacred pilgrimage act at Prayagraj — Sangam Snan at the Triveni Confluence where Ganga and Yamuna visibly meet and the invisible Saraswati flows beneath. A single dip here at dawn is believed to liberate the pilgrim from the cycle of birth and death. After the holy dip, visit the Allahabad Fort (built 1583 CE by Emperor Akbar) for darshan at the Akshaya Vat — the immortal banyan tree enclosed within the fort walls, mentioned in the Mahabharata and the Puranas as the indestructible tree that survived the Great Flood of Pralaya. Also visit Saraswati Koop (the well of the invisible Saraswati) and the underground Patalpuri Temple. Next: Bade Hanuman Ji — the remarkable reclining Hanuman idol that floods under Ganga waters every monsoon season and re-emerges unharmed, drawing intense devotion. Post-lunch, check out and drive to Varanasi (approx. 200 km, 3.5–4 hrs). Arrive by evening. Check in to hotel. Proceed for evening darshan at the Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirlinga — the holiest Shiva shrine in the world and one of the 12 sacred Jyotirlingas. Overnight in Varanasi.
Day 4

Varanasi — Sunrise Boat Ride, Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, Ganga Aarti & Departure

Pre-dawn: board a wooden rowing boat on the Ganges for the legendary Varanasi sunrise — one of the most spiritually powerful and visually breathtaking experiences in all of India. Float past Assi Ghat, Tulsi Ghat, Harishchandra Ghat (one of the two burning ghats), Dashashwamedh Ghat, and Manikarnika Ghat — where cremation fires have burned without pause for over 3,500 years. Watch the city awaken as priests perform morning rituals, sadhus meditate on the steps, and thousands of devotees take their Ganga Snan. After a traditional breakfast, explore the magnificent Kashi Vishwanath Corridor (inaugurated 2021) — the redeveloped precinct surrounding the Jyotirlinga with Annapurna Devi Temple, Avimukteshwar Mandir, and the vibrant Vishwanath Lane. Visit Durga Kund Temple and Tulsi Manas Mandir — built at the spot where Goswami Tulsidas wrote the Ramcharitmanas in Awadhi language. If time permits: Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple. Attend the majestic Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat — 7 priests wielding 21-tier fire stands in a grand synchronized ritual witnessed by thousands. Post-aarti, transfer to Varanasi Junction / Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport for your onward journey. Tour concludes with divine blessings from Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, and Kashi.

Frequently Asked Questions — 3 Nights 4 Days Chitrakoot Prayagraj Varanasi Tour Package

What is the travel route and distance for this 3N4D tour?

The tour follows a convenient eastward route: Chitrakoot to Prayagraj is approx. 130 km (3 hrs), and Prayagraj to Varanasi is approx. 200 km (3.5–4 hrs on NH19). All drives are scheduled post-lunch so you have full mornings for darshan at each destination. Total road distance across 4 days is approximately 330 km, covered in a private AC vehicle.

Can this tour be extended to include Ayodhya or Gaya?

Yes. This 3N4D circuit is the core of our longer packages. You can extend it by adding 2 nights in Ayodhya at the beginning (making it a 5N6D Ayodhya–Chitrakoot–Prayagraj–Varanasi package) or 1–2 nights in Gaya / Bodhgaya at the end (making it a 4N5D or 5N6D circuit). We also offer a 7N8D and 9N10D version including Ayodhya, Naimisharanya, and Gaya. Contact us to customize the duration and budget.

Is the Ganga Aarti at Varanasi included on the departure day (Day 4)?

Yes. The Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat takes place every evening around sunset (approximately 6:00–7:00 PM depending on the season). On Day 4 we schedule the sunrise boat ride in the morning and the Ganga Aarti in the evening before your departure transfer. If your train or flight departs before 9 PM from Varanasi, you will comfortably catch the aarti. For late afternoon departures, we adjust the itinerary accordingly.

What is special about Chitrakoot that makes it a worthy pilgrimage destination?

Chitrakoot is the land most intimately associated with the Ramayana after Ayodhya. Lord Ram, Sita, and Lakshman spent 11.5 of their 14 years of exile here — more time than at any other place. The Valmiki Ramayana devotes 26 cantos (sargas) to Chitrakoot. It is here that Sage Bharadwaj directed Ram on his exile route, Sage Atri and Anusuiya blessed Sita, and Bharat came to request Ram to return. Unlike the crowded pilgrimage cities, Chitrakoot retains a profoundly serene and authentic atmosphere that deeply moves first-time visitors.

What should I wear for the Gupt Godavari Cave inner passage?

The inner cave of Gupt Godavari involves wading through ankle-to-knee-deep water for about 40–50 meters. Wear clothes you are comfortable getting wet — a lungi or dhoti works well for men, and women may carry a spare set of clothes. Remove footwear before entering. Carry a small waterproof pouch for your phone and valuables. The cave is naturally lit in parts and torchbearers are available at the entrance. The experience is extraordinary and well worth the minor inconvenience.

Is Varanasi only one night — is that enough time?

One night in Varanasi allows you to experience the two most iconic moments — the sunrise Ganga boat ride and the evening Ganga Aarti — along with Kashi Vishwanath darshan and the ghats walk. While Varanasi has much more to offer (Sarnath, Banaras Hindu University, heritage havelis), one focused night covers the essential spiritual highlights perfectly for this pilgrimage circuit. If you wish more time in Varanasi, consider our 4N5D or longer packages that include 2 nights in the city.
