3 Nights 4 Days Ayodhya, Prayagraj & Varanasi Tour Package | Ramayana Circuit — Ayodhya Tour Package Overview

Follow the Ramayana Across Three Sacred Cities in Four Extraordinary Days. This 3 Nights 4 Days Ayodhya, Prayagraj & Varanasi Tour Package traces the most spiritually charged route in all of North India — a living Ramayana geography that connects Lord Ram's birthplace, his exile crossing, and the city where his story was immortalized in scripture.

Ayodhya is where Lord Ram was born and the Ramayana was lived. Prayagraj (Triveni Sangam) is where Lord Ram, Sita, and Lakshmana crossed the Ganga at the start of their 14-year exile — where three sacred rivers (Ganga, Yamuna, and the invisible Saraswati) unite in the holiest confluence in Hinduism. Varanasi (Kashi) is the eternal city where Goswami Tulsidas composed the Ramcharitmanas at Tulsi Ghat — and where Kashi Vishwanath Mahadev has presided since before time was counted.

Three cities. One story. Four days that will change how you understand India forever.

The Ramayana Circuit — Why These Three Cities Together?

  • Ayodhya (Day 1): Ram Janmabhoomi, Saryu Aarti, Hanuman Garhi, Kanak Bhawan — the story begins here

  • Prayagraj (Day 2, en route): Triveni Sangam holy dip, Akshayavat, Patalpuri Temple — where Ram crossed the Ganga at Shringverpur during the vanvas

  • Varanasi (Days 2–4): Ganga Aarti, sunrise boat ride, Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirlinga, Tulsi Ghat, Sarnath — where the Ramcharitmanas was composed and Shiva himself grants liberation

Day 1

Day 1: Arrival Ayodhya → Hanuman Garhi → Kanak Bhawan → Dashrath Mahal → Sita Ki Rasoi → Saryu Ghats → Sandhya Aarti → Overnight Ayodhya

Night 1 — Ayodhya

Arrival & Welcome at Ayodhya (Flexible — based on your flight/train):

Your driver-guide receives you at Ayodhya Airport (AYJ) or Ayodhya Junction Railway Station with a name board. A warm Jai Shri Ram welcome and a briefing on your four-day Ramayana circuit sets the devotional tone. Proceed to the hotel for check-in and freshening up.

Hotel Check-in — Ayodhya (3-star, near temple zone / Saryu Ghat):

All Ayodhya hotels in our portfolio are pure vegetarian, fully in keeping with the city's sacred character. Enjoy lunch at the hotel or a nearby eatery. The hotel's proximity to the temple zone means you can hear temple bells throughout the day and night — a subtle but deeply settling spiritual experience.

Hanuman Garhi Temple (Early Afternoon):

Begin at Hanuman Garhi — Ayodhya's hilltop guardian deity. The tradition holds that one must seek Hanuman ji's blessing before approaching Ram Janmabhoomi. Climb the iconic 76 steps to the temple housing Mother Anjani nursing infant Hanuman. The elevated position gives you a first panoramic view of Ayodhya — the city of Lord Ram spread across the Gangetic plain, with the Saryu glinting silver in the distance.

Kanak Bhawan (Mid-Afternoon):

Walk to Kanak Bhawan — the golden palace gifted by Queen Kaikeyi to Mata Sita as a private wedding residence for the divine couple. The temple enshrines Ram and Sita in spectacular gold-adorned royal attire. The intimate warmth of the idols and the richly carved interior make this one of Ayodhya's most emotionally powerful shrines — many pilgrims are moved to tears here.

Dashrath Mahal & Sita Ki Rasoi (Late Afternoon):

Visit Dashrath Mahal — the royal palace of King Dashrath, with elaborate Ramayana frescoes and multiple courtyard shrines. Adjacent, step into Sita Ki Rasoi — the legendary kitchen of Mata Sita, one of Ayodhya's oldest and most intimate Ramayana tradition sites, with preserved ancient cooking implements and a Sita sanctum. This is the domestic, personal Ayodhya — not the grand pilgrimage site, but the household of the divine family.

Ram ki Paidi Ghats — Saryu Evening Walk (5:00 PM):

Walk to the beautifully developed Ram ki Paidi marble ghats on the Saryu. The Saryu is the river in which Lord Ram finally departed from this world, choosing to leave by walking into her waters. Sit at the river's edge, offer flowers, and watch the twilight settle over the water as pilgrims gather for the aarti. This is the quiet, contemplative Ayodhya.

Saryu Sandhya Aarti (5:30–6:30 PM):

Witness the Saryu Sandhya Aarti — a magnificent lamp-lit dusk ritual with conch blowing, chanting, and thousands of diyas floated on the sacred river. Tomorrow evening you will stand at Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi for the Ganga Aarti — the other great river ritual of North India. But tonight, this gentler, more intimate Saryu Aarti belongs entirely to you and to Ayodhya.

Dinner & Overnight Stay — Ayodhya:

Return to hotel for a wholesome sattvic dinner. Retire early — tomorrow begins before dawn. You will wake up in Ayodhya, take a holy dip in the Saryu, seek darshan at Ram Mandir, and by evening stand at the Ganga in Varanasi. It will be a full and extraordinary day.

Day 2

Day 2: Sunrise Saryu Dip → Ram Mandir → Drive via Prayagraj (Triveni Sangam + Akshayavat) → Varanasi → Ganga Aarti → Overnight Varanasi

Night 2 — Varanasi

Sunrise Saryu DipRam MandirTriveni SangamAkshayavatPrayagrajGanga AartiVaranasiDay 2

Pre-Dawn Sunrise Saryu Holy Dip (5:00–5:45 AM):

Rise before dawn for the Saryu holy dip — the most auspicious ritual of your Ayodhya stay. The Ram ki Paidi Ghats at this hour are mist-wrapped and almost silent. The Saryu is described in the Valmiki Ramayana as the river dearest to Lord Ram himself — he bathed here daily. This is the exclusive spiritual privilege of overnight guests in Ayodhya. Emerge from the water feeling the lightness that every pilgrim describes after the Saryu snan.

Ram Janmabhoomi & Ram Mandir Darshan (6:30–9:00 AM):

Proceed for early morning darshan at Ram Janmabhoomi — the 7–9 AM slot is the absolute best: shortest queues, most devotional atmosphere (morning aarti, golden sanctum light, barely any crowd). The grand Ram Mandir — consecrated January 2024, built in pink Rajasthan sandstone in Nagara style — houses Ram Lalla at the exact spot of Lord Ram's birth. Your guide narrates the 500-year history of this site and the Ramayana significance of the complex. Spend time in the outer courtyard, museum, and gardens. This is the start of the Ramayana. The next stop is where the exile began.

Breakfast & Hotel Checkout (9:00–10:00 AM):

Hot sattvic breakfast near the Ram Mandir precinct — kachori, puri-sabzi, or poha with chai. Return to hotel, collect luggage, load the cab. The highway drive today traces the Ramayana exile route west.

Drive: Ayodhya → Prayagraj (~165 km / ~3 hrs, depart 10:00 AM):

The drive from Ayodhya to Prayagraj follows the ancient pilgrim highway through the Gangetic plains. Your guide narrates the Ramayana connection as you drive: it was along this general corridor that Lord Ram, Sita, and Lakshmana walked during the early days of their 14-year exile, eventually reaching the Ganga at Shringverpur (near Prayagraj) where the boatman Kevat refused to ferry Ram across until he had washed Ram's feet. The Kevat episode is one of the most beloved stories in the Ramcharitmanas — and Prayagraj is where it happened.

Triveni Sangam — Holy Dip at the Sacred Confluence (1:00–2:30 PM):

Arrive at Prayagraj and proceed to the Triveni Sangam — the holiest water confluence in all of Hinduism, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and the invisible Saraswati meet. Take a boat to the point of confluence and perform a sacred dip in the co-mingled waters of all three rivers. The Sangam is believed to magnify the merit of any ritual performed here a thousandfold. After the Saryu at dawn, this is your second sacred water ritual of the day — and you still have the Ganga to come tonight. Your guide explains the significance of Prayagraj as the Tirtha-raja (King of all Pilgrimage Sites) and its role in the Kumbh Mela tradition.

Akshayavat & Patalpuri Temple (2:30–3:15 PM):

Visit Akshayavat — the immortal banyan tree said to be indestructible (akshaya = imperishable, vat = banyan), mentioned in both the Ramayana and Mahabharata. Lord Ram is said to have rested under this tree during the exile. The tree and the adjacent Patalpuri Temple (an underground shrine) are located within the Allahabad Fort complex — with the unique arrangement of a military fort surrounding one of the most ancient pilgrimage sites in India. The ambiance is ancient, quiet, and deeply charged.

Drive: Prayagraj → Varanasi (~125 km / ~2.5 hrs, depart ~3:30 PM):

Depart Prayagraj eastward along the Ganga floodplain toward Varanasi. As the drive progresses, your guide transitions the narrative from the Ramayana to Kashi — explaining why Varanasi is called the city that Shiva holds on his trident, why the Ganga flows northward here (opposite to its general direction), and why dying in Kashi is considered the ultimate liberation. You arrive in Varanasi as the city prepares for its evening ritual.

Varanasi Hotel Check-in (6:00–6:30 PM):

Quick check-in at your Varanasi hotel near the Ganga ghats. Drop luggage, freshen up, and head straight to the ghats — the aarti waits for no one.

Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat (6:30–7:30 PM):

Witness the Ganga Aarti — one of the most magnificent spiritual rituals in the world. Seven priests in silk dhotis perform a perfectly choreographed fire-lamp puja simultaneously on the Dashashwamedh Ghat, with massive brass lamps, conch shells, incense spiralling upward, and Sanskrit mantras reverberating across the water. The entire Ganga glows with diyas released by thousands of devotees. If the Saryu Aarti (last night) was intimate and personal, the Ganga Aarti is vast and cosmic — it feels like the entire universe is performing puja to the river.

Dinner & Overnight Stay — Varanasi (Night 2):

After the aarti, explore the lanes near Dashashwamedh Ghat for dinner. Try Varanasi's iconic Banarasi thali, thandai (spiced milk drink), or street-side kachori-sabzi from Kachori Gali. Return to hotel for rest — tomorrow is a full day in Varanasi.

Day 3

Day 3: Sunrise Ganga Boat Ride → Ghats Walk → Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirlinga → Tulsi Ghat → Sarnath → Evening Ganga Aarti → Overnight Varanasi

Night 3 — Varanasi

Sunrise Boat RideTulsi GhatKashi VishwanathManikarnikaSankat MochanSarnathVaranasiDay 3

Pre-Dawn Sunrise Ganga Boat Ride (5:00–6:30 AM):

Rise before dawn for the crown jewel of the Varanasi experience — a private boat ride on the Ganga at sunrise. As your wooden rowing boat glides silently past the ancient stone ghats in the pre-dawn blue light, you witness the most extraordinary spiritual tableau in India: pilgrims bathing, priests performing rituals, sadhus meditating, funeral pyres burning at Manikarnika, flowers floating downstream, and the sun rising in a blaze of gold over the opposite bank of the Ganga. The boat passes all major ghats — Assi Ghat, Tulsi Ghat, Kedar Ghat, Harishchandra Ghat, Manikarnika Ghat, Dashashwamedh Ghat, Man Mandir Ghat — as your guide narrates the mythology and living tradition of each. No photograph fully captures this morning. It must be experienced.

Tulsi Ghat — The Ramcharitmanas Birthplace (6:30–7:00 AM):

Step ashore at Tulsi Ghat — named after Goswami Tulsidas, the 16th-century saint-poet who lived and meditated in the lanes behind this ghat and composed the Ramcharitmanas here. Consider the extraordinary arc of this journey: you stood at Ram's birthplace in Ayodhya (Day 1), at the Sangam where Ram crossed the Ganga during his exile (Prayagraj, Day 2), and now you stand at the ghat where his story was written for all future generations. The Ramayana was lived in Ayodhya and made eternal in Varanasi.

Breakfast at the Ghats (7:00–7:45 AM):

Classic Banarasi ghat-side breakfast — kachori with aloo sabzi, jalebi, and kulhad chai — watching the city fully come alive as the morning sun climbs. The energy of Varanasi after sunrise is completely different from any other city — an ancient metropolis that has been continuously inhabited for over 3,000 years, conducting the same rituals every single morning without interruption.

Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirlinga Darshan (8:30–10:00 AM):

Proceed to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple — one of India's 12 sacred Jyotirlingas and the most revered Shiva temple in the world. The magnificent Kashi Vishwanath Corridor (inaugurated December 2021) provides a grand processional approach from the Ganga ghats to the golden spire, transforming the entire area around the temple. Seek blessings of Vishwanath Mahadev — Shiva as the Lord of the Universe, the Eternal Witness, who is said to whisper the Taraka Mantra into the ears of those who die in Kashi, granting moksha. Your guide explains why both Ram devotees and Shiva devotees consider Kashi essential — Tulsidas himself was a devoted worshipper at this very temple.

Manikarnika Ghat — The Mahashmashan (10:00–10:30 AM):

Walk to Manikarnika Ghat — the sacred cremation ground said to be the most powerful spiritual site in Varanasi. The fire at Manikarnika is believed to have burned continuously for millennia, lit by Shiva himself. Hindus believe that anyone cremated here achieves moksha — this is why Manikarnika sees 200–300 cremations daily, with families bringing their departed from across India and the world. Witnessing it is not morbid — it is a profound confrontation with the nature of life, death, and liberation.

Durga Temple & Sankat Mochan Temple (10:30–11:30 AM):

Visit the striking Durga Temple (Durga Kund Mandir) — its ochre-red Nagara spire rising over the adjacent sacred kund. Then proceed to Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir — founded by Tulsidas himself at the very spot where he first received the darshan of Lord Hanuman. From Hanuman Garhi in Ayodhya (Day 1) to Sankat Mochan in Varanasi (Day 3) — Hanuman's presence bookends the entire pilgrimage, the faithful companion from Ram's birthplace to the city of his scripture.

Lunch Break (11:30 AM–12:30 PM):

Enjoy a leisurely Varanasi vegetarian lunch — try the city's celebrated Banarasi thali, tamatar chaat, or malaiyo (a seasonal cold sweet unique to Varanasi). Rest briefly before the afternoon drive to Sarnath.

Sarnath — Where the Buddha Set the Wheel in Motion (1:00–3:30 PM):

Drive 10 km to Sarnath — where Siddhartha Gautama, having attained enlightenment at Bodhgaya, came to deliver his first sermon to five disciples, setting the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta (Wheel of Dharma) in motion. Sarnath is one of the four holiest sites in Buddhism and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the Dhamekh Stupa (3rd century BCE, built by Emperor Ashoka), the archaeological ruins of the original Mulagandhakuti Vihara, the Sarnath Museum housing the original Ashoka Lion Capital — adopted as India's national emblem — and the modern Mahabodhi Society temple with striking Japanese-style murals.

Evening Return to Varanasi Ghats & Optional Aarti (5:30–7:30 PM):

Return from Sarnath to Varanasi for a relaxed evening at the ghats. You may choose to witness the Ganga Aarti again from the river (by boat this time, for a different perspective) or simply walk along the ghat promenade, shop for Banarasi silk, wooden toys, or incense from the ghat-lane bazaars, and enjoy the electric night-time energy of Varanasi.

Dinner & Overnight Stay — Varanasi (Night 3):

Final night in Varanasi. Try the city's famous Banarasi paan (betel leaf preparation) after dinner — a Varanasi tradition hundreds of years old. Tomorrow is the final morning before departure.

Day 4

Day 4: Morning Varanasi Temples → BHU Vishwanath → Ganga Walk → Varanasi Airport / Station Drop

Day 4 — Varanasi Departure

BHU VishwanathRamnagar FortGanga WalkBanarasi ShoppingVaranasi Airport DropDay 4

Optional Early Morning Ritual (5:30–6:30 AM, for late departures):

If your flight or train departs in the afternoon or evening, begin Day 4 with one final Ganga ritual — either a pre-dawn boat ride revisiting the ghats in the misty morning light, or a peaceful walk along Assi Ghat as the city begins its day. The morning atmosphere of Varanasi is incomparably serene and is often the moment travellers say they finally understood why this city is called the City of Light.

BHU Vishwanath Temple & Campus (8:00–9:30 AM):

Visit the Vishwanath Temple at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) — a marble replica of the original Kashi Vishwanath, built on the BHU campus in 1966. The white-marble temple is architecturally spectacular and far less crowded than the original, allowing for a peaceful, unhurried darshan. The BHU campus itself — founded by Madan Mohan Malaviya in 1916 — is a serene, sprawling academic city within the city, with tree-lined roads and a calm atmosphere in contrast to the lanes of old Varanasi. The Bharat Kala Bhavan museum on campus (optional) houses exceptional Varanasi miniature paintings and Hindu art collections.

Ramnagar Fort — Varanasi Royal Heritage (9:30–10:30 AM, optional):

Cross the Ganga by boat or bridge to visit Ramnagar Fort — the ancestral palace of the Maharaja of Varanasi, built in 1750 CE in Mughal-style sandstone. The attached museum houses vintage cars, ivory palanquins, astrological clocks, and antique weapons from the royal collection. From the fort's terrace, the view of the Varanasi skyline across the Ganga — with all the ghats visible — is one of the finest panoramas of the city.

Last Ganga Walk & Shopping (10:30 AM–12:00 PM):

Return to the ghats for a final walk along Varanasi's ancient waterfront. Browse the lane markets for Banarasi silk sarees (the city's most famous craft — UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage), Varanasi brassware, wooden toys, rudraksha malas, and Varanasi-style puja items. Your guide can take you to trusted shops away from tourist-trap areas.

Hotel Checkout & Lunch (12:00–1:00 PM):

Final checkout and a last Banarasi lunch. Do not leave without trying baati-chokha (the regional UP dish), a glass of thandai, and the famous Banarasi paan with your after-lunch chai. Varanasi sends you off with flavour.

Departure — Varanasi Airport (VNS) or Varanasi Junction (BSB) Drop (1:30–3:00 PM or as per schedule):

Your driver ensures timely arrival at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, Varanasi (IATA: VNS) or Varanasi Junction Railway Station (station code: BSB) — whichever matches your onward journey. You depart having completed the full Ramayana circuit: Ram's birthplace, the exile's river crossing, the city of liberation. Three sacred cities. Three holy rivers. Four unforgettable days. Jay Shri Ram. Har Har Mahadev.

Good to Know

Point-to-Point Package: This tour starts at Ayodhya (pickup from AYJ airport or Ayodhya Junction) and ends at Varanasi (drop at VNS airport or Varanasi Junction BSB). Plan your inward flight/train to Ayodhya and outward from Varanasi accordingly.

Day 2 is the Long Day: Day 2 covers Ayodhya (morning) + Prayagraj transit (afternoon, ~2.5 hrs stop) + Varanasi arrival (evening) with a total drive of ~290 km. We start early (5 AM Saryu dip) and pace the day efficiently. If your flight to Ayodhya is late on Day 1, Day 2 remains unaffected as all Day 1 content is in Ayodhya only.

Ram Mandir Photography: Mobile phones must be deposited at free lockers before entering Ram Mandir's main sanctum. Photography is allowed in the outer courtyard, gardens, and museum.

Kashi Vishwanath Entry: The Kashi Vishwanath Corridor requires thorough security screening — no large bags, food, or phones inside. Cloak facilities available at the Corridor gate. Aim to arrive by 8:30 AM for the smoothest morning darshan.

Varanasi Hotel Location: We recommend hotels near Assi Ghat or Dashashwamedh Ghat for the most immersive experience. Some ghat-facing hotels can be accessed only by a short walk (lanes are too narrow for cars) — your driver will drop you at the nearest point and a porter will assist.

Dress Code: Traditional modest attire required at all temples across all three cities. Carry a dupatta or stole. At Triveni Sangam, wear clothing you are comfortable bathing in (a separate change of clothes is recommended for the Sangam dip).

Frequently Asked Questions — 3 Nights 4 Days Ayodhya, Prayagraj & Varanasi Tour Package | Ramayana Circuit

What is the Ramayana connection between Ayodhya, Prayagraj, and Varanasi?

Ayodhya is where Lord Ram was born and the Ramayana was lived. Prayagraj (Triveni Sangam) is where Lord Ram, Sita, and Lakshmana crossed the Ganga at the beginning of their 14-year exile — the beloved Kevat episode from the Ramcharitmanas takes place here. Varanasi is where Goswami Tulsidas composed the Ramcharitmanas itself at Tulsi Ghat, making these three cities a complete Ramayana spiritual circuit — the story, the exile's crossing, and the scripture.

Is the Prayagraj stop on Day 2 sufficient for a meaningful visit?

Yes. Day 2 allocates approximately 2.5 hours in Prayagraj (1:00–3:30 PM) covering the Triveni Sangam holy dip by boat, Akshayavat (the immortal banyan tree), and Patalpuri Temple. These are the three spiritually essential Prayagraj sites. If you wish a longer Prayagraj experience, we recommend our dedicated 1N/2D Prayagraj package or our longer Prayagraj–Varanasi–Ayodhya multi-city circuits.

What is the Triveni Sangam holy dip experience like?

A boat takes you from the Sangam Ghat to the actual point of confluence — where the blue-green Yamuna visibly merges with the brownish-grey Ganga. You descend into the boat for the holy dip at this exact meeting point. The Triveni Sangam is called the Tirtha-raja (King of all Pilgrimage Sites) and is believed to be the most merit-multiplying spot for ritual bathing in all of Hinduism. The experience is moving, joyful, and utterly unique.

Is pickup from Ayodhya Airport available? Where is the drop on Day 4?

Yes — pickup from Ayodhya Airport (Maharishi Valmiki International Airport Ayodhya Dham, IATA: AYJ) or Ayodhya Junction station on Day 1. Drop on Day 4 is at Varanasi — either Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport (VNS) or Varanasi Junction Railway Station (BSB). This is a point-to-point package — you fly/train in at Ayodhya and out from Varanasi.

What is the best time of year to do this Ayodhya–Prayagraj–Varanasi circuit?

October to March is ideal — pleasant weather, all rivers at normal level, and the major festivals (Diwali in Varanasi, Kartik Purnima boat festival, Makar Sankranti at Prayagraj) add extraordinary colour. Avoid the monsoon (July–September) when river ghats can flood. Ram Navami (March–April) is the most spiritually charged but also the most crowded time in Ayodhya.

Can we attend the Kashi Vishwanath Mangala Aarti (early morning aarti)?

Yes — if you are interested in the Mangala Aarti (performed at 3 AM before regular darshan), we can arrange this on Day 3 or Day 4. It requires an early start and a separate queue/ticket. Please mention this at booking so we can adjust the itinerary. The Mangala Aarti is considered the most auspicious darshan of the day.

Is Sarnath worth visiting as part of this package?

Absolutely — Sarnath is 10 km from Varanasi and requires just 1.5–2 hours. It houses the original Ashoka Lion Capital (India's national emblem), the 3rd-century BCE Dhamekh Stupa, and the first Buddhist monastery ruins. Combined with the Ramayana circuit, Sarnath adds a Buddhist dimension — Varanasi held deep significance for both Shiva (Kashi), Ram (Tulsidas's Ramcharitmanas), and the Buddha (first sermon here). This triple significance makes Varanasi uniquely India's.

Can I extend this to a longer package including Chitrakoot or Bodhgaya?

Yes. This 3N/4D circuit is the foundational three-city leg of our longer packages. We offer 5N/6D and longer circuits adding Chitrakoot (where Ram spent 11.5 years of his exile), Bodhgaya (Buddha's enlightenment site), and Naimisharanya. The full 11N/12D grand pilgrimage is also available. Ask us for a customised quote based on your travel dates.

Is this package suitable for senior citizens and families with children?

Yes, with adjustments. Hanuman Garhi (76 steps, Day 1) and Manikarnika Ghat (visually intense, Day 3) can be skipped for comfort. Sarnath is an easy, wide-open heritage site ideal for families and children. The sunrise Ganga boat ride is safe (life jackets available) and memorable for all ages. We pace the itinerary gently with adequate rest built in across all four days.
