2 Nights 3 Days Naimisharanya Lucknow Tour Package — Naimisharanya Tour Package Overview

Combine two of Uttar Pradesh's most rewarding but contrasting destinations in a compact 2 Nights 3 Days Naimisharanya Lucknow Tour Package. Begin in Lucknow — the City of Nawabs — where Mughal grandeur, Awadhi culture, and colonial history converge in one of India's most cultured cities. Then journey to Naimisharanya (Nimsar), one of Hinduism's most ancient and spiritually potent pilgrimage forests — a sacred spot rarely found in standard tour itineraries. Here, where 88,000 rishis once assembled and sage Suta Goswami narrated all 18 Puranas, you will bathe in the Chakratirtha Kund (believed to be the navel of the universe), seek blessings at a Shakti Peeth, and experience the profound silence of a forest that has been sacred for over 3,000 years. This short break is perfect for weekend pilgrims from Delhi, Lucknow, or Kanpur, and for devotees who want to combine the heritage of the Nawabs with the divine energy of the ancient rishis — all in just 3 days.

Day-by-Day Itinerary — 2 Nights 3 Days Naimisharanya Lucknow Tour Package

2 Nights 3 Days · Naimisharanya · Timings adjustable to your arrival

Day 1

Arrival Lucknow — Nawabi Heritage & Awadhi Cuisine

Arrive at Lucknow Airport or Lucknow Junction Railway Station. Meet your VisitKashi representative and check in to hotel. After freshen up and lunch, begin your Lucknow heritage tour. Start with Bara Imambara (1784) — built by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula as a famine relief project, it houses one of the world's largest arched halls constructed without external support or iron beams. Do not miss the legendary Bhool Bhulaiya — a labyrinth of 489 identical narrow corridors and doorways on the roof; only the old caretakers know the correct path through. Visit Chota Imambara — illuminated with Belgian chandeliers and housing a gilded throne. Photograph the iconic Rumi Darwaza — the 18-metre gateway modelled on the Sublime Porte of Constantinople. Visit Hussainabad Imambara and its picture gallery. Evening stroll along Hazratganj — Lucknow's most cosmopolitan boulevard, lined with colonial-era arcades and modern cafes. Dinner at a heritage Awadhi restaurant — sample galouti kebab (the melt-in-mouth patty invented for a toothless Nawab), Lucknowi dum biryani, Shami kabab, and sheermal (saffron flatbread). Overnight Lucknow.
Day 2

Lucknow → Naimisharanya — Sacred Forest of the 88,000 Rishis

After breakfast, drive to Naimisharanya (~90 km, 2–2.5 hrs) — also called Nimsar or Naimish Van. This ancient sacred forest in Sitapur district is one of the most spiritually important and least-crowded major pilgrimage sites in India. Its significance is extraordinary: it is mentioned in the Mahabharata, Ramayana, Skanda Purana, and all 18 Mahapuranas. It was here that sage Shaunaka assembled 88,000 rishis for a great yajna, and Suta Goswami narrated the Bhagavata Purana, the Vishnu Purana, and all other Puranas over years of continuous recitation. Arrive and begin your pilgrimage circuit. First, seek blessings at Chakratirtha Kund — the sacred pond at the heart of Naimisharanya. According to the Puranas, Lord Vishnu released His Sudarshana Chakra to spin across the earth; wherever it stopped spinning was declared the navel (nabhi) of the universe — that spot is Naimisharanya. Take a holy dip in the Kund. Lalita Devi Temple — one of the 108 Shakti Peethas, where the heart of Goddess Sati is believed to have fallen. The goddess is worshipped with great devotion, and the temple is alive with bhajans and rituals. Vyasa Gaddi — the elevated seat where the sage Vedavyasa sat to compose and narrate the Puranas. A small but deeply venerated shrine. Hanuman Gadhi — the ancient Hanuman temple near the kund. Dadhichi Kund — dedicated to the sage Dadhichi, who willingly donated his bones at the gods' request so that his bones could be forged into the Vajra weapon for Indra to defeat the demon Vritra; one of Hinduism's greatest acts of sacrifice. Drive to Mishrikh (~8 km) to visit the Saptasarovar — the seven sacred lakes associated with seven great sages. Evening aarti at Chakratirtha Kund — as lamps are lit and conches blown at the water's edge, the atmosphere is deeply meditative. Dinner and overnight at Naimisharanya.
Day 3

Naimisharanya Morning → Lucknow Departure

Rise before sunrise for a dawn dip at Chakratirtha Kund — bathing in the sacred waters at first light, with the sound of morning prayers echoing through the forest, is the most memorable moment of this pilgrimage. Complete morning darshan. Visit any remaining shrines: Pandav Kila ruins, ancient Shiva temples in the forest, or the Lav-Kush Mandir if time permits. After breakfast, drive back to Lucknow (~90 km, 2–2.5 hrs). If time permits before your departure, visit the Husainabad Clock Tower and Satkhanda (unfinished five-storey watchtower), or browse the famous Chikan embroidery and Zardozi handicraft shops at Aminabad. Transfer to Lucknow Airport or Lucknow Junction Railway Station for your onward journey, carrying the blessings of Chakratirtha and the memory of the rishi-forest that has been sacred since before recorded history.

Good to Know

Naimisharanya accommodation is basic — simple guesthouses and UP Tourism bungalows; luxury hotels are not available in Nimsar itself.

Purnima dates see significantly higher crowds at Chakratirtha Kund — a deeply special but busier experience.

The Naimisharanya Mela (Magha month, January/February) is exceptional but requires booking 2–3 months in advance.

Bring your own puja items or purchase from the market near Chakratirtha — we do not provide ritual materials.

Swimming is not advised in Chakratirtha Kund; ceremonial dipping from the steps is the norm.

Best season: October to March; tour operates year-round.

Frequently Asked Questions — 2 Nights 3 Days Naimisharanya Lucknow Tour Package

Why is Naimisharanya considered one of the holiest pilgrimage sites in Hinduism?

Naimisharanya holds a unique distinction: it is mentioned more frequently in Hindu scriptures than almost any other tirth. The Skanda Purana calls it the foremost of all pilgrimages. It is where 88,000 sages assembled for a great yajna, and where Suta Goswami narrated all 18 Mahapuranas over years. The Chakratirtha Kund is considered the navel (nabhi-kshetra) of the universe — the point where Lord Vishnu's Sudarshana Chakra stopped spinning. It houses a Shakti Peeth (Lalita Devi), a Pitru Tirth (Dadhichi Kund), and is associated with Vedavyasa, sage Shaunaka, and the Pandavas.

How far is Naimisharanya from Lucknow?

Naimisharanya (Nimsar) is approximately 85–90 km from Lucknow via NH-27, taking about 2–2.5 hours by road. There is no direct train to Naimisharanya — the nearest railway station is Sandila (~30 km) or Sitapur (~40 km). The most convenient way is by private vehicle from Lucknow, which we provide as part of this package.

What is the best time to visit Naimisharanya?

Year-round pilgrimage is possible, but the most auspicious times are: Purnima (full moon) — the Chakratirtha Kund bath on Purnima is especially meritorious; Kartik Purnima (October/November) sees the largest gatherings; the Naimisharanya Mela during Magha (January/February) draws lakhs of pilgrims. October to March is ideal for comfortable weather. Avoid May–June (extreme heat).

Is this tour suitable for elderly pilgrims?

Yes. The Naimisharanya circuit is manageable for elderly pilgrims — distances are short and the main shrines are accessible. The Chakratirtha Kund has steps with handrails for bathing. Lucknow monuments involve moderate walking. We can arrange a slower pace and wheelchair-friendly transport if needed — please inform us while booking.

Can this package be extended to include Ayodhya?

Yes — Ayodhya is ~100 km from Naimisharanya, making a 3N4D or 4N5D Lucknow–Naimisharanya–Ayodhya combination very popular. We also offer larger circuits that include Prayagraj and Varanasi. Check our 5N6D, 7N8D, and 8N9D Naimisharanya packages or contact us for a custom itinerary.
