Frequently Asked Questions — 10 Nights 11 Days Ayodhya Naimisharanya Prayagraj Chitrakoot Varanasi Gaya Tour Package
What is the best time to visit for this 10N11D Ayodhya to Nalanda tour?
▼October to March is the ideal period — pleasant weather (10–25°C), major festivals like Deepotsav in Ayodhya (November), Buddha Purnima at Bodhgaya (May varies), Kartik Snan at Varanasi, and winter pilgrimage season at Gaya. During Pitru Paksha (September–October), Gaya sees its largest annual pilgrimage for Pind Daan — book 3–4 months ahead during this period. Avoid May–July due to extreme heat (42–45°C) in UP and Bihar.
What makes this 11-day tour different from the 10-day version?
▼The extra day is dedicated to Rajgir and Nalanda — two of the most historically significant sites in all of Asia. Rajgir was the capital of the ancient Magadha empire and where the Buddha spent many rainy seasons. Nalanda was the world's greatest university (5th–12th century CE), attracting scholars from across Asia. These sites are 80 km from Gaya and make this tour the most comprehensive sacred and heritage circuit of North India and Bihar, combining Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain pilgrimage.
Is Pind Daan at Gaya essential? What should we carry?
▼Pind Daan at Gaya is considered the most sacred Shraddha ritual in Hinduism — scriptures state it liberates ancestral souls from the cycle of rebirth. For the ritual, carry the full name (including gotra and father's name) of the ancestor for whom Pind Daan is to be performed. Our guide will connect you with a qualified Gaya Panda (hereditary priest). The ritual takes 1.5–2 hours. Pandit dakshina is additional (approx. ₹1,500–3,000).
How is the drive from Varanasi to Gaya? Is it comfortable?
▼The Varanasi–Gaya drive is approximately 250 km and takes 4.5–5 hours on NH19 (Varanasi–Kolkata Highway). The highway is well-maintained 4-lane road. We schedule this transfer post-lunch so you arrive in Gaya by early evening for the Vishnupad darshan. Our vehicles are modern AC SUVs and Tempo Travellers with comfortable seating, making the drive pleasant.
Can this tour be started from Varanasi instead of Ayodhya?
▼Yes, we can customize the tour to start from Varanasi and end at Gaya, or reverse the entire circuit (Gaya → Varanasi → Chitrakoot → Prayagraj → Naimisharanya → Ayodhya). The route can also begin from Lucknow (nearest major airport/rail hub for Ayodhya, 135 km). Contact us with your arrival city and we will design a customized departure plan at no extra charge.
Are the Nalanda ruins worth visiting for a religious pilgrim?
▼Absolutely. Nalanda (founded 427 CE) was the greatest seat of learning in the ancient world, with a library complex called Dharmaganj that held 9 million manuscripts. While primarily a Buddhist institution, it was a place of universal learning — Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain scholars all studied here. The UNESCO-listed ruins spread over 14 hectares are extraordinarily well-preserved and deeply moving. Even for non-Buddhist pilgrims, walking through classrooms and meditation halls that housed 10,000 students 1,500 years ago is a profound experience.
What type of accommodation is arranged across all 6 destinations?
▼We arrange comfortable 3-star equivalent hotels in Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Gaya. In Chitrakoot, hotels are basic but clean (limited luxury options available). In Naimisharanya, accommodation is in a well-maintained pilgrimage guesthouse — comfortable but simple, reflecting the nature of the sacred site. Upgrades to 4-star properties are available in Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Gaya on request.
