Frequently Asked Questions — 3 Nights 4 Days Chhapiya Ayodhya Naimisharanya Tour Package
What is the spiritual connection between Chhapiya, Ayodhya, and Naimisharanya?
▼All three sites are deeply connected through the Hindu tradition of Uttar Pradesh. Ayodhya (Ram's birthplace) and Chhapiya (Swaminarayan's birthplace) share the Ram Navami tithi — Lord Swaminarayan was born on the same sacred day as Lord Rama, making both birthplaces spiritually resonant. Naimisharanya is the forest mentioned in the Valmiki Ramayana as the seat of the rishis — when Rama performed the Ashwamedh Yagna, the learned sages from Naimisharanya attended. Suta Goswami who narrated the Puranas at Naimisharanya was himself a disciple of Maharishi Vyasa, who also composed the Bhagavata Purana — the scripture most studied in the Swaminarayan Sampraday. The three sites form a natural pilgrimage circuit of scripture, divine birth, and forest ashram traditions.
What is the Chakra Kund and why is it uniquely sacred among all pilgrimages?
▼The Chakra Kund is the circular sacred tank at the heart of Naimisharanya, believed to mark the exact spot where Lord Vishnu's Sudarshana Chakra descended to earth, creating the boundary of the sacred forest. Hindu scripture, including the Skanda Purana, states that a single holy bath in the Chakra Kund is equal in merit to performing pilgrimages at all other tirthas in the universe. The Chakra Kund is also where the 88,000 rishis assembled around Suta Goswami to hear the Puranas narrated. The pre-dawn bath (brahma muhurta) at the Chakra Kund — which we include as the last morning of the Naimisharanya visit — is especially meritorious. The circular shape of the kund, maintained for thousands of years, reflects the disc of the Sudarshana Chakra.
Is the route from Ayodhya to Naimisharanya convenient?
▼Ayodhya to Naimisharanya is approximately 130 km (2.5 hrs by road) via Lucknow. The most practical route is Ayodhya → Lucknow (140 km, 2.5 hrs) → Naimisharanya (85 km, 1.5 hrs), passing through or around Lucknow city. The roads are mostly national or state highways and are in reasonable condition. We recommend departing Ayodhya after breakfast (around 9:00 AM) to arrive at Naimisharanya by early afternoon, allowing the full afternoon and evening for Chakra Kund, Lalita Devi Temple, Vyas Gaddi, and the evening Gomti aarti.
What accommodation is available at Naimisharanya?
▼Naimisharanya is primarily a pilgrimage town with dharamshala (pilgrim guesthouse) accommodation. The most popular options are the Lalita Devi Temple dharamshala and several well-maintained ashram rest houses near the Chakra Kund. All meals are strictly satvik vegetarian (no onion, no garlic). The accommodations are clean and comfortable for pilgrims, but not luxury standard. Guests preferring more comfort can stay in Sitapur (20 km, 30 min) or return to Lucknow (85 km), but we strongly recommend staying overnight in Naimisharanya for the pre-dawn Chakra Kund bath — one of the most spiritually transformative experiences of the entire pilgrimage.
