3 Nights 4 Days Prayagraj Chitrakoot Tour Package — Prayagraj Tour Package Overview

Frequently Asked Questions — 3 Nights 4 Days Prayagraj Chitrakoot Tour Package
What is so special about Chitrakoot?
▼Chitrakoot is one of Hinduism's most sacred pilgrimage destinations. It is where Lord Ram, Sita, and Laxman spent 11½ years of their 14-year vanvas (exile) as described in the Ramayana and Valmiki Ramayan. The entire town is considered a living Ramayana — every hill, river, rock, and cave here has a direct connection to the Ram Katha. Unlike commercial pilgrimage towns, Chitrakoot retains a pristine, forested, deeply spiritual atmosphere.
How far is Chitrakoot from Prayagraj?
▼Chitrakoot is approximately 120–130 km from Prayagraj city centre — about 3 to 3.5 hours by road on NH35. Our private AC vehicle covers this route comfortably. The drive passes through scenic rural Uttar Pradesh / Madhya Pradesh landscape.
What is the Kamadgiri Parikrama and how long does it take?
▼The Kamadgiri Parikrama is a 5 km barefoot circumambulation of the sacred Kamadgiri Hill, which is worshipped as a direct form of Lord Ram. It takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours at a relaxed pilgrimage pace. The path is well-paved with temples and shrines at intervals. Footwear must be removed for the entire parikrama. It is suitable for most fitness levels including elderly visitors who prefer a slower pace.
What is the best time to visit Chitrakoot?
▼October to March is ideal — pleasant weather (12°C–28°C) perfect for the outdoor Kamadgiri parikrama and riverside sightseeing. July–August (monsoon) transforms Chitrakoot into a lush green paradise and the Mandakini flows at its fullest, though some caves may be inaccessible. Ram Navami (March–April) and Diwali draw massive pilgrim crowds with special celebrations.
What is the Gupt Godavari and is it safe to enter the caves?
▼The Gupt Godavari comprises two caves — one narrow cave with a stream where Lord Ram is believed to have held court, and a larger cave with a Shivalinga. The narrow cave requires wading through ankle-to-knee-deep water. Rubber sandals are available for rent at the entrance. Our guide ensures safety. Elderly visitors or those with mobility issues can skip the inner cave and still view the entrance temples.
Can I do a morning Sangam snan on the last day before departure?
▼Yes. If your departure from Prayagraj is in the afternoon or evening, we can schedule an early morning Sangam visit (5–7 AM) on Day 2 before the heritage sightseeing. Please inform us while booking and we will adjust the itinerary accordingly.
Can I extend this package to include Varanasi or Ayodhya?
▼Absolutely. Chitrakoot is well-positioned between Prayagraj and Varanasi (4.5 hrs), and between Prayagraj and Ayodhya (3 hrs). We can extend your itinerary to a 5N/6D Prayagraj–Chitrakoot–Varanasi or 6N/7D Prayagraj–Chitrakoot–Ayodhya–Varanasi circuit. VisitKashi specialises in custom pilgrimage circuits across Uttar Pradesh — contact us on WhatsApp.
What is the Ramghat Aarti in Chitrakoot?
▼The Ramghat Aarti is an evening lamp ceremony held daily on the banks of the Mandakini River — similar in grandeur to the Ganga Aarti at Varanasi but far more intimate and spiritually intense. Priests perform the aarti to Lord Ram, and thousands of oil lamps are lit on the ghats. The reflection of lamps on the river creates an ethereal atmosphere. The aarti typically begins around sunset (5:30–6:30 PM depending on season).
How is accommodation in Chitrakoot?
▼Chitrakoot has a range of accommodation from ashrams and dharamshalas (basic, free or nominal) to comfortable 2–3 star hotels and guesthouses near Ramghat. VisitKashi books you into a clean, comfortable hotel within walking distance of Ramghat. For those preferring an ashram experience, we can arrange stays at reputed ashrams on request.
Is this package suitable for senior citizens?
▼Yes, with some adjustments. The Sangam boat ride is completely safe. The Kamadgiri parikrama is 5 km on flat, well-paved ground suitable for most seniors. The Gupt Godavari cave wading can be skipped. The Hanuman Dhara climb (200+ steps) is optional. Our guide is experienced with senior pilgrim groups and ensures a comfortable, unhurried pace. Wheelchair-accessible vehicles available on request.
What is the difference between visiting Prayagraj alone vs. combining with Chitrakoot?
▼Prayagraj alone gives you the grand Sangam experience, Mughal heritage (Akbar's Fort), and India's freedom-struggle history (Anand Bhawan). Adding Chitrakoot transforms the trip into a complete Ramayana pilgrimage circuit — you connect the divine dots from the Sangam (where Ram's ancestors performed rituals) to the forests where Ram actually walked. Together, they offer an unmatched blend of spiritual depth, natural beauty, and historical richness found nowhere else in India.
