2 Nights 3 Days Ayodhya & Varanasi Tour Package | Airport & Station Pickup Drop — Ayodhya Tour Package Overview

The Ramayana Was Lived in Ayodhya — and Immortalized in Varanasi. This 2 Nights 3 Days Ayodhya & Varanasi Tour Package connects India's two most sacred cities in one seamless pilgrimage. Ayodhya is where Lord Ram was born, ruled, and lived the Ramayana. Varanasi (Kashi) is where Goswami Tulsidas composed the Ramcharitmanas — the scripture that brought the Ramayana to every home in India — sitting on the banks of the Ganga at Tulsi Ghat. Together, these two cities complete the complete Ramayana spiritual loop: the story and its scripture, the life and its literature.

Across three richly layered days, you will stand at the Ram Janmabhoomi (Ram Mandir) in Ayodhya, take a pre-dawn sunrise holy dip in the Saryu River, witness the legendary Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi, glide past the ancient ghats on a sunrise boat ride, seek blessings at Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirlinga, and meditate at Tulsi Ghat where the Ramcharitmanas was born. All with the convenience of pickup and drop at Ayodhya Airport (AYJ) or Ayodhya Junction Railway Station.

Why This Ayodhya–Varanasi Package Is Extraordinary

  • The complete Ramayana circuit — birthplace of the story (Ayodhya) and birthplace of the scripture (Varanasi)

  • Sunrise Saryu holy dip in Ayodhya + sunrise Ganga boat ride in Varanasi — two of India's most transcendent spiritual experiences

  • Early morning Ram Mandir darshan with minimal queues — the best possible darshan window

  • The famous Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat — one of the most magnificent rituals in the world

  • Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirlinga — one of 12 sacred Jyotirlingas, among the most revered Shiva temples in India

  • Tulsi Ghat — where Tulsidas composed the Ramcharitmanas, spiritually connecting both cities

  • Comfortable 1 night each in Ayodhya and Varanasi — waking up in both cities

  • Seamless airport/station pickup and drop at Ayodhya with private AC cab throughout

Kashi (Varanasi) holds a unique place in the Ramayana tradition. It was at Varanasi that Tulsidas — who had prayed to Lord Ram all his life — first saw Lord Hanuman and, through his intervention, received the blessings of Lord Ram himself. The Ramcharitmanas was then composed in Kashi. The city of Shiva became the birthplace of Ram's most beloved scripture. This pilgrimage honours both traditions — Ram and Shiva, Ayodhya and Kashi — in one profound three-day journey.

Arrival & Welcome at Ayodhya (Flexible timing):

Your driver-guide receives you at Ayodhya Airport (AYJ) or Ayodhya Junction Railway Station with a name board. After a Jai Shri Ram welcome, proceed to the hotel for check-in and freshening up. Your guide briefs you on the two-city three-day itinerary and its Ramayana significance — setting the spiritual context before the first temple visit.

Hotel Check-in — Ayodhya:

Check in to your pre-arranged 3-star hotel near the temple zone or Saryu Ghat. All properties are pure vegetarian, fully in keeping with Ayodhya's sacred character. Enjoy a light lunch at the hotel or from a nearby eatery before heading out for the afternoon circuit.

Hanuman Garhi Temple (Early Afternoon):

Begin at Hanuman Garhi — Ayodhya's hilltop guardian deity. Devotees believe one must seek Hanuman ji's blessing before approaching Ram Janmabhoomi. Ascend the iconic 76 steps to the temple housing Mother Anjani with infant Hanuman. From the hilltop, take in a panoramic view of Ayodhya — the roofscape, temple spires, and the glittering Saryu in the distance. Your guide explains Hanuman's specific protective role in the Valmiki Ramayana and how this temple came to be established here.

Kanak Bhawan (Mid-Afternoon):

Walk to Kanak Bhawan — the "Golden Palace" — Queen Kaikeyi's wedding gift to Mata Sita, a private palace for the divine couple. The temple enshrines Ram and Sita in spectacular gold-adorned royal regalia, and the intimate atmosphere makes this one of Ayodhya's most emotionally moving shrines. The ornate carvings, richly coloured murals, and the gentle warmth of the idols create a deeply personal darshan experience.

Dashrath Mahal & Sita Ki Rasoi (Late Afternoon):

Visit Dashrath Mahal — the ancestral royal palace of the Ikshvaku dynasty, with Ramayana frescoes and multiple shrines. Adjacent, pause at Sita Ki Rasoi — the legendary kitchen of Mata Sita, one of the oldest Ramayana tradition sites in Ayodhya, with preserved ancient cooking implements and a Sita sanctum.

Ram ki Paidi Ghats — Saryu Evening Walk (5:00 PM):

Walk to the Ram ki Paidi Ghats on the sacred Saryu — the river described in the Valmiki Ramayana as moksha-dayini (liberation-bestowing). Sit at the water's edge, offer flowers, and soak in the serene energy as the evening gathers around the marble ghats. This is the quiet, contemplative Ayodhya that exists before the aarti begins.

Saryu Sandhya Aarti (5:30–6:30 PM):

Witness the magnificent Saryu Sandhya Aarti — a lamp-lit ritual with chanting, conch blowing, and thousands of diyas floated on the river. Tomorrow evening you will witness the Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat — but tonight, the Saryu Aarti at Ayodhya is its equally sacred counterpart. Two rivers, two aartis, two sacred cities: this is what makes the Ayodhya–Varanasi circuit unique.

Dinner & Overnight Stay — Ayodhya:

Return to hotel for a sattvic dinner. Retire early — tomorrow begins before sunrise with a holy dip in the Saryu, followed by the Ram Mandir and the scenic drive to Varanasi.

Day 2

Day 2: Sunrise Saryu Dip → Ram Janmabhoomi & Ram Mandir → Drive Ayodhya to Varanasi → Ganga Ghats → Kashi Vishwanath → Ganga Aarti → Overnight Varanasi

Night 2 — Varanasi

Sunrise Saryu DipRam MandirAyodhya to Varanasi DriveKashi VishwanathGanga AartiDashashwamedhDay 2

Pre-Dawn Sunrise Saryu Holy Dip (5:00–5:45 AM):

Rise before dawn for the most spiritually charged act of the entire journey — a holy dip in the Saryu River at sunrise. The ghats are mist-wrapped and almost silent at this hour. The Saryu, according to the Valmiki Ramayana, was dear to Lord Ram himself — he bathed here daily as a prince, and the river is believed to grant liberation to those who immerse themselves with devotion. This experience is the exclusive privilege of those who spend the night in Ayodhya.

Ram Janmabhoomi & Ram Mandir Darshan (6:30–9:00 AM):

Proceed to Ram Janmabhoomi for darshan in the early morning slot — the best possible time. Queues are at their shortest, the atmosphere is at its most devotional (morning aarti, golden sanctum light), and the experience is profoundly intimate. The grand Ram Mandir, consecrated January 2024, is built in Nagara-style pink Rajasthan sandstone on the 70-acre complex. At its heart, the idol of Ram Lalla — the divine infant Ram — is installed at the exact spot where Lord Ram is believed to have been born. Your guide narrates the 500-year history of the site and the Ramayana significance of each area of the complex. Spend time in the outer courtyard, museum, and gardens.

Breakfast & Hotel Checkout (9:30–10:30 AM):

Enjoy a hot sattvic breakfast near the Ram Mandir precinct — kachori, puri-sabzi, or poha with masala chai. Return to the hotel, collect luggage, and check out. Load up the cab and prepare for the scenic highway drive to Varanasi.

Ayodhya to Varanasi Drive (10:30 AM – 2:30 PM, ~200 km / ~4 hrs):

The drive from Ayodhya to Varanasi traces the ancient pilgrim route across the Gangetic plains — through the towns of Akbarpur, Jaunpur (with its 14th-century Sultan Shahi Mosque bridge), and Varanasi's outskirts. Your guide continues the Ramayana narrative during the journey — connecting Tulsidas, Varanasi, and the composition of the Ramcharitmanas to the city you left this morning. As you approach Varanasi, listen: the bells and conch sounds from the ghats greet you long before you see the city.

Varanasi Hotel Check-in & Lunch (2:30–3:30 PM):

Check in to your Varanasi hotel — preferably with Ganga views or near the ghats. Freshen up and enjoy lunch at a reputable local vegetarian restaurant. Varanasi is renowned for its sattvic cuisine — baati-chokha, kachori-sabzi, thandai, and the iconic Banarasi paan are all worth experiencing.

Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirlinga Darshan (4:00–5:30 PM):

Proceed to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple — one of India's 12 sacred Jyotirlingas and the most revered Shiva temple in the world. Rebuilt and expanded into the magnificent Kashi Vishwanath Corridor (inaugurated 2021), the temple complex now offers a sweeping processional approach from the river ghats to the golden spire. Seek blessings of Vishwanath Mahadev — Shiva as the Lord of the Universe, the presiding deity of Kashi. Your guide narrates why Varanasi is called Kashi (City of Light) and why Shiva himself is said to whisper the Taraka Mantra into the ears of those who die in Kashi, granting moksha.

Manikarnika & Dashashwamedh Ghat Walk (5:30–6:15 PM):

Walk along the Ganga ghats — the living, beating heart of Varanasi. Pass by Manikarnika Ghat, the sacred cremation ground said to be the spot where Sati's earring (manikar) fell, and where the fire has burned continuously for millennia. Then proceed to Dashashwamedh Ghat — the most ancient ghat in Varanasi, where Lord Brahma is said to have performed the Dashashwamedha Yagna to welcome Lord Shiva.

Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat (6:30–7:30 PM):

Witness the Ganga Aarti — one of the most spectacular and moving rituals in the world. Seven priests in silk dhotis perform a choreographed fire-lamp ritual simultaneously, with massive brass lamps, conch shells, incense, and the chanting of Sanskrit mantras echoing across the river. The entire Ganga surface glows with diyas floated by devotees. If the Saryu Aarti last evening was intimate and personal, the Ganga Aarti tonight is vast and cosmic — a reminder that Kashi stands at the centre of the universe in Hindu cosmology.

Dinner & Overnight Stay — Varanasi:

Dinner at a reputable Varanasi restaurant — try the city's famous Banarasi thali, thandai, malaiyo (winter seasonal sweet) or street-side kachori from Kachori Gali near Vishwanath. Retire with the sounds of temple bells and Ganga flowing gently past your window. Tomorrow begins again before dawn.

Day 3 — Varanasi → Ayodhya Departure

Ganga Boat RideTulsi GhatSankat MochanSarnathVaranasi to AyodhyaAirport DropDay 3

Pre-Dawn Sunrise Ganga Boat Ride (5:00–6:30 AM):

Rise before dawn for the crown jewel of any Varanasi visit — a private boat ride on the Ganga at sunrise. As your wooden boat glides past the ancient ghats in the pre-dawn blue light, you witness the most extraordinary tableau in Indian spiritual life: pilgrims bathing, priests performing rituals, sadhus meditating, funeral pyres burning at Manikarnika, flowers floating downstream, and slowly — magnificently — the golden sun rising over the opposite (eastern) bank of the Ganga. No camera fully captures this. This is a morning that lives in memory forever.

Your boatman navigates past all major ghats — Assi Ghat, Tulsi Ghat, Kedar Ghat, Harishchandra Ghat, Manikarnika Ghat, Dashaswamedh Ghat, Man Mandir Ghat — as your guide narrates the mythology, history, and living tradition of each.

Tulsi Ghat — The Ramcharitmanas Connection (6:30–7:00 AM):

Step ashore at Tulsi Ghat — named after Goswami Tulsidas, the 16th-century saint-poet who lived and meditated here. It was at this ghat, in the lanes behind it, that Tulsidas composed the Ramcharitmanas — the Hindi retelling of the Ramayana that became the most widely read scripture in North India. Consider the circle that closes here: you stood at Ram's birthplace in Ayodhya yesterday, and now you stand where his story was written. The Ramcharitmanas bridge between Ayodhya and Varanasi is both literary and spiritual.

Breakfast at the Ghats (7:00–7:30 AM):

Enjoy a classic Banarasi breakfast at a ghat-side café — kachori with aloo sabzi, jalebi, and masala chai — watching the city come fully to life as the morning progresses. The ghats of Varanasi in the post-sunrise hour have an incomparable energy: pilgrims, sadhus, children, boats, cows, and temple bells all at once.

Sankat Mochan Temple (8:00–8:45 AM):

Visit Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir — one of Varanasi's most beloved and powerful temples, founded by Tulsidas himself. The temple is believed to have been established at the very spot where Tulsidas first received the darshan of Lord Hanuman, who then directed him to Lord Ram. The idol of Hanuman here is especially fierce and protective; thousands of devotees visit daily for relief from hardship (sankat = trouble, mochan = reliever). From Hanuman Garhi in Ayodhya (Day 1) to Sankat Mochan in Varanasi (Day 3) — Hanuman's protective presence bookends the entire journey.

Durga Temple (Durga Kund) (8:45–9:15 AM):

Visit the striking Durga Temple (Durga Kund Mandir) — built in Nagara style with an ochre-red exterior, housing a self-manifested (swayambhu) idol of Goddess Durga. The adjacent Durga Kund (sacred tank) is filled with water from the Ganga. The temple is particularly vibrant during Navratri but maintains a powerful, devotional atmosphere year-round.

Sarnath — Where the Buddha Turned the Wheel (9:30–11:00 AM):

Drive 10 km from Varanasi to Sarnath — where the Buddha gave his first sermon (the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta) after attaining enlightenment at Bodhgaya, setting the Wheel of Dharma in motion. Visit the Dhamekh Stupa (3rd century BCE Ashokan structure), the Sarnath Archaeological Museum housing the original Ashoka Lion Capital (now India's national emblem), the ruins of the Mulagandhakuti Vihara, and the modern Mahabodhi Society temple. Sarnath is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the four holiest sites in Buddhism.

Hotel Checkout & Lunch (11:00 AM – 12:00 PM):

Return to the hotel, collect checked-out luggage (already settled by the cab), and enjoy a final Varanasi lunch. The city bids farewell with a last cup of Banarasi chai served in a clay kulhad — a tradition in itself.

Return Drive: Varanasi to Ayodhya (12:30–4:30 PM, ~200 km / ~4 hrs):

Begin the return drive along the Varanasi–Ayodhya highway through the Gangetic plains. Your guide reflects on what the two cities offer together — the full Ramayana circle, completed. Ayodhya gave birth to Lord Ram. Varanasi gave birth to the Ramcharitmanas. Between them, they gave birth to the devotional tradition that defines North Indian Hinduism.

Ayodhya Airport / Station Drop (4:30–5:30 PM, as per your schedule):

Arrive at Ayodhya Airport (AYJ) or Ayodhya Junction Railway Station for your onward journey. You depart having experienced two of the most sacred cities in India, two ancient rivers, two legendary aartis, and one complete spiritual story — lived and written across three extraordinary days. Jay Shri Ram. Har Har Mahadev.

Good to Know

Return Drive to Ayodhya (Day 3): The Varanasi–Ayodhya return drive on Day 3 departs around 12:30 PM and takes approximately 4 hours. If your flight/train from Ayodhya departs before 6 PM, please inform us at booking so we can adjust the Day 3 Varanasi sightseeing schedule accordingly.

Ram Mandir Photography (Day 2): Mobile phones must be deposited at lockers before entering Ram Mandir's main sanctum — lockers are free and well-managed. Photography is permitted in the outer courtyard, museum, and gardens of the complex.

Kashi Vishwanath Corridor Entry: The Vishwanath Corridor has a strict security check — no bags, phones, or large items inside. Cloak/locker facilities are available at the Corridor gates. Prefer arriving by 4:30 PM to complete darshan before the evening crowd peaks.

Dress Code — Both Cities: Traditional modest attire required at all temples — kurta-pajama or dhoti for men; saree or salwar kameez for women. Carry a dupatta or stole. Both Ayodhya and Varanasi are spiritually conservative cities — please dress respectfully.

Vegetarian Throughout: Ayodhya is a strict vegetarian city (no meat/alcohol). Varanasi also has many purely vegetarian neighbourhoods near the ghats; however, some areas do serve non-vegetarian food. We recommend vegetarian restaurants for the best Banarasi cuisine experience.

Peak Season Advisory: During Ram Navami, Diwali, Mahashivaratri, and Karthik Purnima — both Ayodhya and Varanasi draw millions of pilgrims. Darshan queues and ghat crowds are very high. Book well in advance and request festival-specific crowd management support.

Frequently Asked Questions — 2 Nights 3 Days Ayodhya & Varanasi Tour Package | Airport & Station Pickup Drop

What is the Ramayana connection between Ayodhya and Varanasi?

Ayodhya is where Lord Ram was born and the Ramayana was lived. Varanasi (Kashi) is where the 16th-century saint Goswami Tulsidas composed the Ramcharitmanas — the Hindi retelling of the Ramayana at Tulsi Ghat — which became the most widely read Hindu scripture in North India. Additionally, Varanasi is closely linked to the Shiva tradition and Tulsidas was a devotee of both Ram and Shiva. The two cities form a complete Ramayana spiritual circuit.

Is pickup available from Ayodhya Airport for this 3-day package?

Yes. Our driver meets you at Ayodhya Airport (formally Maharishi Valmiki International Airport Ayodhya Dham, IATA: AYJ) on Day 1 with a name board. We also offer pickup from Ayodhya Junction (AY) or Ayodhya Cantt (AWB). The drop on Day 3 is back at your chosen Ayodhya airport or station after the return drive from Varanasi.

How far is Ayodhya from Varanasi by road?

Ayodhya to Varanasi is approximately 200 km by road, taking 3.5–4.5 hours depending on traffic. We drive this route on Day 2 after the morning Ram Mandir darshan (departing around 10:30 AM, arriving Varanasi by 2:30 PM). The same highway is used for the return journey on Day 3 afternoon.

What is the best time to see the Ganga Aarti in Varanasi?

The Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat takes place daily at sunset (approximately 6:15–7:15 PM in winter, 6:45–7:45 PM in summer). We plan Day 2 so you arrive at the ghat 30–45 minutes before the aarti begins to secure a good viewing position — either from the ghat steps, a boat on the water, or a riverside terrace.

What is the sunrise boat ride in Varanasi like?

The sunrise Ganga boat ride is one of the most iconic spiritual experiences in India. Starting before dawn (5:00 AM), a wooden rowing boat takes you along the entire stretch of Varanasi's ancient ghats as the city awakens. You witness bathing pilgrims, priests performing rituals, funeral pyres at Manikarnika, and the sun rising over the Ganga — a sight that has moved artists, writers, and pilgrims for centuries.

Can I book a VIP darshan at Kashi Vishwanath Temple?

Yes. The Kashi Vishwanath Temple offers a special VIP/priority darshan queue at an additional fee (typically ₹300–₹500/person). This significantly reduces wait time, especially during festival periods and weekends. We can assist in booking this at the temple counter — please request at the time of booking so we can plan accordingly.

Is Sarnath worth visiting? How long does it take?

Absolutely — Sarnath is 10 km from Varanasi and houses the original Ashoka Lion Capital (now India's national emblem), the 3rd-century BCE Dhamekh Stupa, and the ruins of the first Buddhist monastery. We allocate 1.5 hours on Day 3 morning — sufficient to see the Dhamekh Stupa, visit the museum, and the Mahabodhi temple. It is especially meaningful for those who are also planning to visit Bodhgaya.

Can this package be extended to include Prayagraj or Chitrakoot?

Yes. This package forms the first 3 days of our longer Prayagraj–Varanasi–Ayodhya circuits. We offer 4N/5D and longer packages that add Prayagraj (Triveni Sangam, Anand Bhawan) and Chitrakoot (Ramghat, Kamadgiri) to this Ayodhya–Varanasi base. Packages starting from Lucknow Airport are also available.

Is this package suitable for senior citizens and families?

Yes. The pace is deliberately split — one city per day with rest built in. Senior-friendly adjustments: Hanuman Garhi 76 steps can be skipped; Manikarnika Ghat visit can be brief or skipped based on comfort; Ganga boat ride has life jackets and calm water. All Varanasi ghats are accessible by steps or ramp. Families with children find the Sarnath museum and sunrise boat ride especially memorable.
