Day 1
Arrival in Chitrakoot — Kamadgiri Parikrama & Ram Ghat Aarti
▼
Arrive at Chitrakoot by road or train (Chitrakoot Dham Karwi Railway Station, 8 km). Meet your guide and check in to hotel. After freshen-up, proceed for the Kamadgiri Parikrama — a 5 km sacred barefoot walk around the Kamadgiri hill, described in the Valmiki Ramayana as the holiest act a pilgrim can perform here. Lord Ram is believed to dwell within this hill in his subtle form, and circumambulating it with devotion is said to fulfill all sincere wishes. The path is lined with ancient temples including Bharat Milap Mandir — commemorating the deeply emotional reunion of Bharat and Ram in the forest — Matangi Devi Temple, and the main Kamadgiri shrine. Evening: Ram Ghat on the serene Mandakini River — the very ghat where Mother Sita bathed during the years of exile. Attend the gentle evening Aarti as oil diyas are set afloat on the Mandakini. Dinner and overnight in Chitrakoot.
Day 2
Chitrakoot Deep Darshan — Gupt Godavari, Hanuman Dhara, Janaki Kund → Drive to Prayagraj
▼
Rise early for a Mandakini Snan at Ram Ghat. After breakfast, explore the deeper sacred sites of Chitrakoot: Gupt Godavari Caves — two remarkable caves where Lord Ram conducted his royal court in forest exile; the inner cave involves wading through 40–50 metres of ankle-deep water where the underground Godavari flows — a unique and unforgettable spiritual experience. Janaki Kund — the serene riverside ghat where Sita bathed daily. Hanuman Dhara — climb 360 stone steps to the miraculous spring that appeared for Hanuman; the hilltop offers a sweeping view of the entire Chitrakoot valley. Sati Anusuiya Ashram — where the great sage Atri's wife Anusuiya bestowed divine boons upon Sita. Post-lunch, check out and drive to Prayagraj (approx. 130 km, 3 hrs). Check in to hotel. Evening: sunset boat ride at Triveni Sangam where Ganga and Yamuna converge in golden light. Overnight in Prayagraj.
Day 3
Prayagraj — Sangam Snan at Dawn, Akshaya Vat, Anand Bhawan, Ganga Aarti → Drive to Varanasi
▼
Wake before sunrise for the supreme pilgrimage act of Prayagraj — Sangam Snan at the Triveni Confluence. The Puranas declare that a single dawn bath here equals the merit of all pilgrimages combined. After the snan, visit the Allahabad Fort (1583 CE) for Akshaya Vat darshan — the immortal banyan tree enclosed within the fort, mentioned in the Mahabharata as indestructible even at the time of the Great Pralaya (cosmic dissolution). Visit Saraswati Koop and the underground Patalpuri Temple. Bade Hanuman Ji — the famous reclining Hanuman idol that submerges in Ganga floodwaters each monsoon yet always resurfaces. Afternoon: Anand Bhawan (Nehru-Gandhi ancestral home, now a national museum) and Chandrashekhar Azad Park. Evening: Ganga Aarti at Sangam ghat. Post-aarti, check out and drive to Varanasi (approx. 200 km, 3.5 hrs). Arrive late evening. Check in to hotel. Overnight in Varanasi.
Day 4
Varanasi — Sunrise Boat Ride, Kashi Vishwanath Corridor & Grand Ganga Aarti
▼
Pre-dawn: board a traditional wooden rowing boat on the Ganges for the Varanasi sunrise — one of the most transcendent spiritual experiences on earth. Float past all 84 ghats as the city awakens: priests perform Surya Puja, sadhus sit in deep meditation, devotees chant and take holy dips, and the eternal fire of Manikarnika Ghat — where the cremation never stops — glows on the water. After breakfast, explore the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor (inaugurated 2021) — the grand new precinct surrounding the Jyotirlinga with Annapurna Devi Temple, Avimukteshwar Mandir, and the famous Vishwanath Lane. Afternoon: Durga Kund Temple, Tulsi Manas Mandir (built at the spot where Tulsidas wrote the Ramcharitmanas in 1574 CE), and Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple (founded by Tulsidas himself). Evening: the majestic Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat — 7 priests performing a 45-minute synchronized fire ritual that attracts thousands of devotees and travelers every single evening. Overnight in Varanasi.
Day 5
Sarnath — Dhamek Stupa & Lion Capital → Drive to Ayodhya — Ram Mandir & Hanumangarhi Darshan
▼
After breakfast, drive to Sarnath (10 km) — the deer park where the Buddha gave his first sermon after attaining Enlightenment, setting the Wheel of Dharma in motion. Visit the Dhamek Stupa (5th century CE, marking the exact site of the first sermon), Chaukhandi Stupa, Mulagandha Kuti Vihara, and the Sarnath Museum — home to the exquisite Ashoka Lion Capital (India's national emblem, 3rd century BCE) and the Dharmachakra. Return to Varanasi. Check out and drive to Ayodhya (approx. 200 km, 3.5–4 hrs). Arrive by late afternoon. Check in to hotel. Proceed immediately for the most anticipated darshan of the journey — Ram Mandir, the grand temple built at the birthplace of Lord Ram, consecrated on 22 January 2024 after a 500-year sacred movement. The 161-foot Nagara-style shikhara, white Rajasthani marble floors, and pink sandstone carvings are a masterpiece. Then Hanumangarhi — the fort-temple of Sankat Mochan Hanuman perched 76 feet above Ayodhya. Evening: Saryu Aarti at Ram Ki Paidi — priests perform the sacred fire ritual as lamps drift on the holy Saryu. Overnight in Ayodhya.
Day 6
Ayodhya Full Darshan — Saryu Snan, Kanak Bhawan, Sita Rasoi, Guptar Ghat & Departure
▼
Wake before sunrise for a sacred Saryu Snan at Ram Ki Paidi — bathing in the Saryu River at Ayodhya is considered among the holiest acts a devotee can perform, believed to confer liberation. After the snan, begin a comprehensive Ayodhya circuit: Kanak Bhawan (the golden palace gifted to Sita by Kaikeyi, housing resplendent golden idols of Ram and Sita), Sita Ki Rasoi (the original royal kitchen of the Ayodhya palace), Nageshwarnath Temple (established by Luv and Kush — the sons of Ram, making it one of the oldest temples in Ayodhya), Treta Ke Thakur at Tulsi Ghat (where Tulsidas had a divine vision of Ram), and Mani Parvat. Afternoon: Guptar Ghat — the solemn site on the Saryu where Lord Ram took Jal Samadhi at the end of his earthly avatar, marked by temples and a serene ghats area. Final prayers and prasad. Transfer to Ayodhya Railway Station / Maharishi Valmiki International Airport for your onward journey. Tour concludes with the full blessings of Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, Kashi, and Ayodhya.

Frequently Asked Questions — 5 Nights 6 Days Chitrakoot Prayagraj Varanasi Ayodhya Tour Package
Why does this tour end at Ayodhya instead of starting there?
▼
This tour follows the Ramayana's own geographical arc — from Chitrakoot (the forest of Ram's exile) through Prayagraj (Triveni Sangam) and Kashi (Shiva's city) to Ayodhya (Ram's birthplace and return). Ending at Ayodhya creates a deeply moving narrative climax — after walking through Ram's exile at Chitrakoot and seeking blessings from the sacred rivers and Jyotirlinga, darshan at the Ram Mandir at the end of the journey feels like Ram's triumphant return. Travelers who prefer to begin at Ayodhya can request a reversed itinerary.
How far is Varanasi from Ayodhya? Is the drive comfortable?
▼
Varanasi to Ayodhya is approximately 200 km via NH19 and NH27, taking 3.5–4 hours in a private AC vehicle. The route passes through the Ganga plains and is well-maintained. We schedule the Sarnath morning visit (10 km from Varanasi) before this drive on Day 5, departing Varanasi by early afternoon to arrive in Ayodhya by late afternoon — in time for Ram Mandir and Hanumangarhi darshan before the Saryu Aarti.
Can we cover Naimisharanya (Nimsar) on this tour?
▼
Naimisharanya is located 85 km from Lucknow and approximately 130 km from Ayodhya. It can be added as a half-day or full-day excursion from Ayodhya, or as an overnight addition, extending the tour to a 6N7D package. Naimisharanya is home to Chakra Tirth and the Lalita Devi Shakti Peetha and is an extremely meaningful addition for devotees. Contact us to add Naimisharanya to this itinerary.
What is the Ramayana connection between all four destinations?
▼
All four cities are deeply embedded in the Valmiki Ramayana. Ram, Sita, and Lakshman stopped at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj (guided by Sage Bharadwaj) on their way to exile, then spent 11.5 years at Chitrakoot. Kashi (Varanasi) is mentioned as a sacred city Ram was devoted to — and Tulsidas wrote the Ramcharitmanas here. Ayodhya is Ram's birthplace, his kingdom, and his final resting place at Guptar Ghat. Visiting all four cities in sequence is considered a complete Ramayana Tirtha Yatra.
Is this tour suitable for a family with young children?
▼
Yes. All four destinations are family-friendly for pilgrimage travel. The Gupt Godavari inner cave involves wading through water — children above 6 generally enjoy this, and it can be skipped for younger children who visit the outer cave instead. The Hanuman Dhara climb (360 steps) is optional. The Kamadgiri Parikrama is a gentle 5 km walk that most children complete easily. The Varanasi sunrise boat ride is a highlight for children. We can arrange family rooms and provide child-appropriate assistance throughout.
What is the best time to visit all four destinations together?
▼
October to March is ideal — weather is pleasant (8–26°C), all outdoor activities are comfortable, and major festivals coincide: Deepotsav at Ayodhya (November), Dev Deepawali at Varanasi (November), Magh Mela at Prayagraj (January–February), and Ram Navami at both Ayodhya and Chitrakoot (March–April). During Kumbh Mela or Magh Mela years at Prayagraj, book 3 months ahead. The monsoon (July–September) brings lush scenery at Chitrakoot but Sangam flooding.
