Overnight stay in Chitrakoot. (Night 1 of 2)
Chitrakoot Full Day — Deep Exploration of Ram's Exile Sites
Chitrakoot — Night 2 of 2
Gupt Godavari — two mystical caves where the Godavari river flows underground. Lord Ram and Laxman are said to have held court in the larger cave. The experience of walking through the dark, water-filled cave with chants echoing off the walls is unforgettable.
Sphatik Shila — a large crystal-like flat rock on the Mandakini riverbank where Ram and Sita are believed to have sat. Rock impressions said to be of their feet are visible here.
Bharat Milap Mandir — commemorating the emotional meeting between Bharat and Ram during the exile, where Bharat took Ram's wooden sandals as the symbol of his kingship over Ayodhya.
Hanuman Dhara — a natural spring flowing from a hillside over a Hanuman idol, believed to have been created by Ram to cool Hanuman after he set Lanka ablaze.

Chhapiya is a significant pilgrimage site for followers of Swaminarayan and all devotees of Vishnu and Krishna.

Good to Know
Dress Code
Traditional Indian attire recommended at all temples — especially Kashi Vishwanath, Ram Mandir, Mahabodhi, Swaminarayan Janmabhoomi and Lalita Devi Shakti Peeth. Remove footwear and cover head where required. For Kamadgiri Parikrama and Chakra Tirth, you will walk barefoot — carry socks or slip-ons for after the parikrama.
Temple Timings
Most temples open at 5–6 AM and close for a midday break (12–2 PM). Plan temple visits in early morning or late afternoon. Kashi Vishwanath has specific darshan slots — VisitKashi will assist with queue management and timing throughout the circuit.
Photography
Photography is restricted inside Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Ram Janmabhoomi and Mahabodhi Temple main shrine. It is strictly prohibited inside the Swaminarayan Janmabhoomi inner sanctum. At Naimisharanya, photography is generally allowed in open areas. Always respect local signage.
Chitrakoot Tips
Chitrakoot straddles the UP–MP border. The Kamadgiri Parikrama (5 km) is paved and suitable for all ages. The Gupt Godavari cave requires wading through knee-deep cold water inside — carry a spare dhoti or lower garment and a small waterproof bag for your phone.
Naimisharanya Tips
Naimisharanya is a quiet pilgrimage town with limited ATMs — carry sufficient cash. The early morning atmosphere at Chakra Tirth (5–7 AM) is profoundly peaceful and highly recommended. The Lalita Devi Temple sees its highest energy during Navratri — a remarkable experience if your dates coincide.
Bodhgaya & Gaya
Bodhgaya is an international Buddhist destination with Japanese, Thai, Tibetan and Bhutanese monasteries. The Tibetan market offers excellent Buddhist artefacts and prayer items. For Pind Daan at Gaya, request a priest arrangement 2 days in advance. Pind Daan involves several steps and takes 2–3 hours — plan accordingly.
Frequently Asked Questions — 10 Nights 11 Days Varanasi Prayagraj Chitrakoot Ayodhya Chhapiya Bodhgaya Naimisharanya Package
What makes this 10N/11D package different from the shorter circuits?
▼This is the most complete North India pilgrimage circuit offered by VisitKashi. It uniquely combines Hindu sacred sites (Kashi, Prayag, Chitrakoot, Ayodhya), a Vaishnava Swaminarayan site (Chhapiya), a Buddhist World Heritage Site (Bodhgaya), and a Vedic forest of ancient sages (Naimisharanya). No other package covers all 7 of these destinations. The 3-night Varanasi and 2-night Chitrakoot stays also ensure you experience each destination deeply rather than rushing through.
What is the significance of Chhapiya on this pilgrimage?
▼Chhapiya (Gonda district, UP) is the birthplace of Lord Swaminarayan (Sahjanand Swami), born on Ram Navami, April 3, 1781. He is the founder of the Swaminarayan Sampraday — a large Vaishnava movement with millions of followers worldwide, known for the iconic Akshardham temples in Delhi and Gandhinagar. The Janmabhoomi temple complex at Chhapiya is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Vaishnavas.
Why does this package spend 3 nights in Varanasi?
▼Varanasi (Kashi) is the spiritual capital of India and deserves more than a rushed 1-night stay. 3 nights allows a sunrise boat ride, Kashi Vishwanath darshan, Sarnath excursion, Ramnagar Fort, Sankat Mochan, Chunar Fort, evening Ganga Aarti (twice), and relaxed exploration of the ancient ghats. Kashi rewards slow immersion — pilgrims who rush through often feel they missed its essence.
Why 2 nights in Chitrakoot?
▼With 1 night, you can only cover Kamadgiri and Ramghat Aarti. The second night allows exploration of Gupt Godavari caves, Sphatik Shila, Bharat Milap Mandir, Hanuman Dhara and Valmiki Ashram — sites that most pilgrims miss. Chitrakoot is vast and spiritually layered; a 2-night stay transforms it from a transit stop into a genuine pilgrimage.
What is the best time to do this 11-day circuit?
▼October to March is ideal. November is especially auspicious — Dev Diwali in Varanasi (Kartik Purnima) is one of the most spectacular spiritual events in India. January has Makar Sankranti at Prayagraj. Avoid May–August due to extreme heat and monsoon. The Naimisharanya forests are especially beautiful in October–November.
How long is the Chhapiya to Bodhgaya drive on Day 9?
▼Chhapiya to Bodhgaya is approximately 400 km via the Lucknow–Varanasi highway, taking about 7 hours. We depart early from Chhapiya to arrive at Bodhgaya by afternoon, allowing time for the evening Mahabodhi Temple visit and meditation under the Bodhi Tree.
Can I do Pind Daan at Gaya during this trip?
▼Yes. Pind Daan (ancestral rites) at Vishnupad Temple in Gaya is included in the Day 10 morning itinerary before departing for Naimisharanya. Gaya is considered the most auspicious place for pitru tarpan in all of Hinduism. We can arrange a qualified pandit for the ceremony — please inform us at least 2 days in advance.
Is this package suitable for senior citizens and large family groups?
▼Yes. We offer senior-friendly options — ground floor hotel rooms, slow-paced itinerary, wheelchair-accessible vehicles on request, extra assistance at ghats and temples, and priority darshan wherever possible. The generous 10-night duration means no rushed mornings — ideal for families with elderly members or young children.
What type of vehicle is used for this 11-day circuit?
▼A fully AC sedan (Swift Dzire for 1-4), AC Ertiga (5-6), or AC Innova Crysta (6-7) based on group size. For 8+ travellers, an AC Tempo Traveller is arranged. All vehicles are GPS-tracked, multi-state permitted and insured for the full circuit.
How many total kilometres does this 11-day circuit cover?
▼Approximately 1,500–1,600 km: Varanasi → Prayagraj (130 km) → Chitrakoot (130 km) → Ayodhya (200 km) → Chhapiya (100 km) → Bodhgaya (400 km) → Naimisharanya (420 km) → Lucknow (90 km). Our experienced drivers plan the optimal route and rest stops for each long-distance leg.
What is the departure city at the end of this circuit?
▼The tour ends at Naimisharanya on Day 11, from where we drop you to Lucknow Airport or Lucknow Railway Station (90 km / 1.5 hrs). Lucknow has excellent flight and train connectivity to all major Indian cities. If you prefer to return to Varanasi, we can arrange that at an additional cost.
Can this itinerary be customised?
▼Yes. You can add Mathura–Vrindavan, Gorakhpur (Gorakhnath Temple) or split any destination for more nights. Hotel categories can be upgraded from standard to deluxe or heritage. You can also reverse the circuit starting from Lucknow/Bodhgaya. WhatsApp us for a personalised quote.
